Football manager 2016

Finding matches a little more erratic then previous years;

I find that I'll go through a pre-season creating a tactic, normally get off to a fairly good start to the season where it seems to work well then all of a sudden my players stop being able to tackle, close down opposition, or win headers which results in the opposition walking through my team.

Now I'm willing to go on the basis that I'm at least partly at fault and that maybe I'm not managing the players well enough, but it's not like I'm suddenly putting out teams of 70%/65% fitness/match fitness players or making any serious changes to what has been working up until that point.

Will keep trying, maybe I need slightly bigger changes for different opposition this year, normally I stick to a formation that suits my players and just alter some of the instructions or roles according to home/away/tough opponents, but the transition from winning 6 on the trot in the league (including playing Liverpool and Arsenal) to looking like a pub team trying to cope with Barcelona just seems to happen like a switch, and it can be 3 - 4 games before things start to look any different.

UI on the whole is much better, I'm not sure why but it just seems to flow in a way previous versions never did, a lot more intuitive.

They've been trying to tweak the game for around 3 years that really puts the emphasis on tweaking the tactics and formations dependent on the opposition. I think they've started to find the right formula in that department.

I noticed on a SS someone had changed the attribute colours to washed out white for 1-10, flourescent sky blue for 11-15 and luminous yellow for 16-20. It worked really well on the FM standard skin. Usually takes me ages to pick the right colour scheme to make the interface look prettier.
 
One thing I wish they would add is that when you add a new manager at the start of the game, the manager you're replacing is removed from the club history if they have only taken over this summer (Steve McClaren, Claudio Ranieri, Slaven Bilic) so it doesn't look silly they were only there for 3 weeks or whatever. It's just my OCD kicking in. Also if you come in and take over Roberto Martinez for example, the news article would read he has left by mutual consent or for personal issues etc, just to add a bit of realism to the start of the game.

That would be incredibly realistic for some clubs at the moment. :p

The thing is I do tweak for almost every opposition its one of the parts I enjoy the most in FM.

The issue I'm having isn't that one of their players is getting too much space or my full backs are getting exposed because I made a tactical error its that my players just simply stop being able to compete for the ball, my guys are in the right position most of the time, they just stop trying.

I must be missing something somewhere, but as I said its almost like a switch so I'm just a little confused.
 
I can't say I've noticed that in my save but then it is pretty low tier compared to the big boys. Have you edited individual instructions for the player? I'm not entirely sure, but I think there are a few more options this time round. If not, it is certainly more intuitive. My DM was always fouling, he was a reet doirty bugger. So I edited him to ease off the tackles, etc etc, even though my team instructions were already set to 'stay on feet' when tackling. The individual instructions do seem to help this time round.
 
So the game is 'released' now, just tried to find the patch notes to post here but apparently there are too many fixes to list...

Time to start a new save with low league team I guess!
 
Do I keep going with my current save in FM15? I was on the verge of shouting at my ball watching defenders last night.

CD 1 : "Ooooo, what's that?"
CD 2 : "I think it's the ball."
CD 1 : "Oh, doesn't it look pretty"
CD 2 : "Yes but shouldn't we be doing something with it?"

Any torrents going with full kits/logos/badges/etc ?

Just the faces kit from Sortitoutsi I think.

I've added most of the kits and logos as well as the faces pack, so might release a combined torrent or passworded Dropbox for people here at some point, as I did once in the past. I will leave it a while for the scene to settle first though, as things are still being updated for FM2016.
 
Does anyone know how you get to the screen where it shows you who is in charge of what?

For example, who is in charge of confirming bids for players, confirming contracts etc.
 
Can only speak for fm14, so it might be different. Squad/Staff tab/ change staff responsibilities.

probably going to pick up fm16 this weekend, skipped on 15.
 
I like it so far, started as AFC Wimbledon and still in pre-season at the mo and just trying to build my team up.

Only 2 niggles I have is I really dislike the new team instruction screen, they've tried to make it look nice but I just find it a bit counter intuitive. I'm also trying to play down wings but in all the options they've put in to supplement the tactics there's no preferred pass/distribution option (well there is but only for defence) there is for dribbling but not passing which is weird. So I watch games and my team seem to go down the middle all the blinking time. Am I being dense and is there a way to fix this?

Liking it on the balance though.
 
I'm holidaying through 8 years with 61 leagues loaded across 28 countries I think. I'll upload the save somewhere if anyone wants it once it's done. I'll save around May 2023 so people can add/remove their own leagues
