*** The Official Bloodborne Thread ***

The game is very tough but as mentioned above, the level of satisfaction you get from clearing an area or a boss you're having difficulty with is unparalleled. I will be hopping back on this when the DLC drops and I'll help as many people as I can =)

I wonder how tough the dlc will be, only reason i wonder is because i havent really played since getting the platinum at launch so my character is at the start of like ng++ or higher. This happened with dark siuls 2 dlc, i came back after a break straight back in the deep end and struggled. So wonder if its worth starting again but then will i be strong enough at that point in the game to tackle the dlc or would i need to get quite far and go back

Obviously no one knows but what are you lot going to do?

I'm early on in my NG+ playthrough for the exact reason you spoke of, I was going to go further but I didn't want to come back and worry about things like Winter Lanterns straight away so I stopped after I dropped Gascoigne.

What would be the best starting build for a newbie whose only From Software experience so far is 2 hours of Demon Souls?

And are there still enough players that if I need help, somebody will step up?

I spent a couple hours last night and boy, does this throw you in at the deep end without a paddle!

I made the mistake of not collecting my weapons from Hunters Dream after the first werewolf encounter and foolishly respawned back to the workshop. I then spent half an hour trying to kill the damn werewolf before giving up and starting the game again.

Things got a bit better after that and I've now got the full set of improved armour and expect tonight to start dying against the first boss.

Although I have the hardback strategy guide (£5.60 on offer from Amazon earlier this month!!) I am trying to avoid youtube videos and spoilers for each area first few times around..

Well, blade of mercy is awesome! Encourages dodging then attacking for better damage from what i can tell so far. Just at forbidden woods and beaten all bosses up to this point. It feels like a new game again as i havent played for so long! Keep getting cocky then jump scared by enemies i forgot were there!

Joined the new patch covenant but not really sure what it does yet, got a rune though

Still can't beat the two werewolves, I threw a pebble at one and it drew 2, missed the first Molotov and they creamed me. PS4 off, controller on floor.

I just cannot do it..

at the beginning? draw them down the staircase and hide inside where they cant follow and pick them off.

Just died to the boss in woods and when i returned to the lamp (some may consider it a spoiler as it may be related to the new update)

An agressive npc hunter was stood there, with an axe and hes pretty tough! Managed to lure him to the elevator and push him off :D got an item which i think is for the new dlc

Decided to give this game a go today finally what with the expansion coming out tomorrow. Had it a couple months now but I was playing Dark Souls 2 and didn't think two Souls games at the same time was wise.

Anyways, wow, how did this game not a ton of criticism for its performance issues? For one, it hitches constantly. Super annoying. It's driving me mad right now. Two, even if the framerate itself can hold a reasonable 30fps most of the time, it's such a fast-paced action game that it feels totally wrong for this to be anything but 60fps. The end result is something that feels fairly bad to actually play.

The visuals are also a bit of an eyesore. The chromatic aberration is a disaster and the IQ and shimmering, especially in environments as detailed as Bloodborne's, is really distracting and totally hurting the cohesiveness of the visuals and the overall atmosphere. Wasn't Sony supposedly helping them with the development? I hear that all the time to justify why this was exclusive. End result is highly disappointing from a technical standpoint.

So, whining aside, I'm gonna push on still. I love the other Souls games and this game gets such high praise, I'm sure there's a good game here. I just really have to battle through the performance problems and see if I cant 'adjust' after a few more hours.

The frame rate is noticeable especially if u are coming from ds2 which runs at 60 i believe, though its an older game but yea i agree i expected the ps4 to reach 60 with bloodborne.

However once you get into it it becomes a non issue against how good the gameplay is.

You should have played at launch. 50 second load times between each death! Dont know how i managed to plat the game in that state as those things bug me coming from pc. But load times are ok now

Blimey this game grabs you with it's creepy claws and doesn't let go.

After throwing the controller around for the first two hours or so, things 'clicked' with me and I played nothing else all weekend. Ready to try and beat Father Gascoigne tonight and move on as I have cleared the rest of the map multiple times. Beat the Cleric Beast first time which I was quite chuffed about! I've ground out to level 23 and I need to do pretty much a full clearance each time to get extra levels so it must be time to move on.

I will say that the lack of much tutorial makes the game harder than it actually is; and that having the strategy guide in front of me helped make it it less frustrating when I could not figure out where I needed to be.

I just hope it keeps up with the fun, as I'm guessing I've only scratched the surface of the whole game...

There's a music box which can help you with Father G. Wish I'd known about it before I took him on as he whooped my backside a few times before I bludgeoned the crazy dude to death. So many amazing bosses in this game.

Frame rate was fine for me. Overall I thought the game level design, art and visuals were quite beautiful at times. Sounds too are all top notch.

Yeah frame rate was fine for me also, same with level design and visuals etc etc. I have seen other opinions like Seanspeeds but they're fairly rare I'd say probably 1 in every 50 or so. Everybody is different but for me personally, this is the best game of this generation so far.

Not just DS2. I play like 95% of games at 60fps, so going to 30fps is always a bit rough already. The problem here is that is it hitches. The frame timing is off, so it doesn't feel consistent at all, even if the overall framerate would suggest it's fine. And again, this game is very fast-paced. Seems a lot more 'action game' than other Souls games. And action games, especially non-button mashers like this that rely on precision and timing, should really be played at 60fps.

I'm about to jump back in. I do think that even if I can get over it, this will still have seriously detracted from how I'll rate this game overall and I'll be forever annoyed that this will never get a chance to be played in full glory on a PC without any of these issues.

What NG+ is everyone on? What level is your character at?

my character at level 115, don't think i really need to level up anymore, but i'm only in NG+

Seanspeed try Blighttown on PS3. Now that is an fps issue!

TBH if you're used to 60 most of the time you'll definitely feel the difference. Guess I'm used to it!

Kind of getting hyped for the DLC now so I might have to go out and buy this game again.

Ouch :)

I find the fps is noticeable for the first five or so minutes of playing and then it stops being something I see.

Its just always going to be the case for a pc gamer sensitive or used to faster framerates, then playing a game on a console. It cant compare but please do try to get past that, as the game is soo good! Like the chap above says, there is a point where it clicks, gets its claws in and doesnt let go! Well until the end. Certainly doesnt have the replay value of the souls games but ive gone through a few times

The dlc is getting decent reviews. 7-8/10s from most sites saying as more bloodborne its great, but doesnt do much new. But im happy with that. Just need to get my new character up to speed.

Do you guys think if i get to the last boss, them attempt the dlc i will be ok? Or should i be thinking about doing it in ng+?

Not sure what level my new char is but have done rom and about to do unseen village boss. So not far away if i rush it.
