Acer Predator XB271HU - upgrade to the XB270HU

Surely retailers must have some idea when they are getting these by now? It's not looking good for this year.

I'm holding out trying the X34 as I'd rather stay 16:9. As well for cost purposes :)

It's on a couple of other sites, one of which is giving an availability date of mid-December, so with any luck they will land before December. I am intrigued by this... the XB270HU was an absolute joke, but if the back light is indeed attached differently and this improves the BLB issues, then we might have a cracking monitor here... but then again it is Acer, so could go either way!!

I hope so.

I'm tired of playing the panel lottery. Wasted almost £200 on return shipping since April. Many different panels all with faults or just poor quality.

Fingers crossed this is the one :)

I have been waiting for this to finally appear in the UK. Despite there being a number of Panels having been available in the US for a couple of weeks there are still no reviews as far as i can see.

I thought the retailer needed to pay return shipping in the event of faulty goods? Guess I'm about to find out as I'm returning a PG279Q.

It's early days yet but so far the QC on this monitor seems a step above the XB270HU and PG279Q, at least that's the impression I've been getting from users on another forum.

It's a shame that it's just such a lottery buying any of these 'premium' monitors. They might be flying off the shelf but it seems to me they end up flying back just as quickly.

If its considered a fault yes, oddly enough I wasn't offered a refund on shipping on 2 that were and the others had to go back CCR/DSR as excessive IPS glow, vertical lines and very bad white uniformity are arguable.

I have five of these arriving on Friday. That should be a pretty decent sample size for me to report the quality on.

They look sexy af, especially the predator z35... just look at the curvature.

Looks like someone at the design studio took a flat screen, lifted his knee to the center of it then took an edge with each hand and bent it right out of shape. Bet he got paid for it too.

Thats one way to make something fugly, thats for sure.

Also itching to know when to expect this. Was considering the Asus but QC seems to be horrendous on it so hanging on for this.

Have you tested them all yet? :p Any issues with bleed or dead pixels? Was looking at the Asus as tft central showed it to be awesome (if you dont have QC issues, which seems rare) and this uses the same panel, I hope it is just as good because I cant find a single review of it, let alone a comparison with the asus.

If possible can you check one thing, I will be connecting a ps4 via hdmi and the pc via DP and need to switch between them a lot. Can you check how quick/easy it is to switch between the 2 inputs (is it 1 button or a whole load of navigating menus etc). thanks :D

On the XB you can turn the LED off in the menu. ;)

Quite incredible the turn around Acer has made with this new monitor. The level of quality control is quite high! All five of my XB271HU's can overclock to 165 Hz, have zero dead or stuck pixels, no dust trapped behind the panel and all exhibit minimal back light bleed. Once it get's darker out I'll post some photo's.

Closely following you on the other forum Vega. Thanks so much for all the info and media. Your panels sound great!
