re: CS backlog
I sent them an email on Nov 5th, because i'd subscribed the previous month (in time for CitCon) and didnt realise it'd be a rolling sub, so asked them if they could just refund it and deactivate the access it gives etc.
I'd had 4 emails from Nov 5th to Dec 20th, all saying along the lines of "we're busy, we'll get to your ticket ASAP" etc. Then 4 emails since dealing with the issue and the refund being given a couple hours ago (they even refunded the previous month, which i hadn't asked for, as i'd only subscribed under the belief that we'd get priority seating, and they only announced that wouldnt be done/needed the day the tickets became printable, and it was the only reason i'd subscribed). Got it back as credit, which was perfectly fine.
So its been almost 7 weeks. Throwing in the holidays, it could be a long wait, and may well be denied.
Its not in CIG's or backers interest for a refund to be given, but your best shot will be if you're polite and dont act entitled. I suspect if you explain that you feel like perhaps you've got too invested and drawn in by the excitement of concept sale or whatever applies to your situation, and you'd still like to support the project but at a more sensible level, then i think they'll be understanding.
Telling them 'your rights' and adding things like 'feature creep' and 'wont get finished till 2020' etc will only get them annoyed at hearing these claims and respond by reminding you of the terms you agreed to etc.
I know ive spent far more than i should, and if i was sensible i'd do the same, but im not and always finding ways to convince myself to extend it a little further. I see it a bit like a hobby, plenty of people waste money on things they enjoy, and while id get the same amount of joy for $0-$40 (i enjoy the progress/access far more than i play the game) its been worth it. I actually think i'll miss a lot of it when its 'done'. The new concept ships, new features being shown off etc. When we get say 6-9mo before release its going to be largely fixing & balancing, and less about content and new stuff. It slows down again.
