******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Is that the Ship that was a freebie loan on 2.0 PTU testing? looks like it.... if so thats a really nice ship, handles beautifully.

Before Beta; this sort of thing is my goal from gradual upgrading over 6 months.

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/ships/sabre/Sabre

Anyway. the only complaint i have about the Aurora is EVA'ing back in, its impossible, or i haven't managed it yet, i bounce off trying to climb in.

As for my Omega, i'm keeping it, i hope it will eventually become genuinely rare..... so i can show off.

Take guests round my hanger,

This is this ship, i use this one for this. and here i have this... but in Bay 5 i have a classic Mustang Omega, all original in mint condition. on a Lazy Susan :D

Yeah it had a free week on it i think. I've seen one in 2.0 on the landing platform and decided i need one. I already had an Avenger from the AMD pack, so it was just a few £ to upgrade to this.

Did you get the Squadron 42 Digital DL with yours? The early ones did while apparently later ones didn't.....

Mine did but i forgot to activate it at the time, or DL it, can't remember which... now i don't know how or can't seem to do it, as i understand it Squadron 42 is now repeat subscription.

Honestly i don't know, never bothered as i have my Aurora since the kickstarter, so haven't really checked this. Edit: Just checked, i have SQ42 in mine as well.
But you cannot download it yet, you will get the whole game when it comes out officially.

I do wonder how successful will be the SQ42 / Star Citizen when it will be released.
I know quite a few people saying they don't give money as pledge, but they will buy when it comes out if its good.

If they can make SQ42 as involving as StarLancer & the various WingCommanders combined then it will sell like hotcakes. We've been missing a game of the intensity of those two plus Freespace for a long time.

For the Persistent Universe, it will depend on how many people they can get in the instances at work to make it feel alive..

I think if its as good as its expected to be it should be very successful.

Look at its Crowd Funding, $110m to date, thats a serious amount of money raised and i think its an indication of just how much interest there is in it.

What i like about it vs other Space Sim's, like EVE, is as far as i know its like anyother game a one time payment, for Star Citizen? and you move up the ranks and ship classes by earning it.

What puts me off EVE is the repeat subscription, it ain't cheap... $15 every 30 days not including tax and that's before extras and addons.

#### that! i pay $10 a month for CryEngine EaaS.... i make my own ###### games for less than it costs to play EVE. :D

I think it will be a success if they keep it affordable.

Lets hope so. :)
I hope not everyone have it who's interested in space games :)

Yes the plan is it will be buy to play, with no subscription. They won't sell ships after the game released, just cosmetic items, and ingame currency, but that will be limited.
I think if it will be as good as we hope (or close to), then there are many of us who wouldn't mind paying monthly fee.
I think it will be awesome if they can put together the tech side of it. The WOW factor is certainly big. I was astonished when i first run out to the landing platform in Port Olisar.

Great video, the turret together with the guy is completely shot off of a Freelancer:

If that is what is supposed to happen then glorious! The whole star wars/trek ability for zones on ships to disappear, become depressurised and then the poor guy in the red suit gets sucked out was something I was hoping would happen!

If that wasn't meant to happen you can bet your backside they'll make it happen now lol. That's awesome :D

BTW folks the "unmelt" option is now available so it you previously had a package you melted, you can get it back. Personally I'd say hold off until bugs are ironed out, few reports of LTI not being reapplied but that might just be down to those who are unmelting picking packages that never had it to start with.

What do you mean? "as i understand it Squadron 42 is now repeat subscription" Nothing in the game will require a subscription. I believe the plan is that in January they'll split the purchase of SQ42 and SC. AFAIK we dont know what that means for the cost of packages. What we do know is that as you mentioned, there were AMD reward packages that never included SQ42 and there hasnt been any way for a citizen to fix that without buying another package (which kinda defeats the purpose of getting on free), and this allows people to buy it for their package. I'd expect buying both will cost more though, like a $40 package becomes $50. Nobody needs multiple SQ42 copies, and this could be how CIG start to increase the price leading up to release (expecting a $40 package to end up around $60-80 in-line with retail prices, ending discounts for early backers - something i wish most early access games offered).

No game content requires a subscription, but the single player campaign definitely wouldnt be the thing they'd monetise if they were to, it'd be the PU (and they wont - not forceably, probably have something like the current subscription).

Were you referring to something else, or get mixed up info?

I don't know where i got that from TBH, mixed up info probably

Having read your post i went to Squadron 42 looked at the pre-order.

What i didn't know as that you buy a package which includes the SQ42 Download, which my AMD package already had/has, so i'm assuming when its released i'll get it for free.

Yes you will get SQ42 for free if your package says so. Next year they are splitting the packages (i think) so it's a good time to get it.

It certainly does. :)

I'm a happy teddy, I don't feel guilty as i have spent a fair amount of money on SC and intend to spend more yet :)

I started off with a basic package, now have $400 sitting in credit waiting for the sale start Christmas day.

Didn't like flying the multi ships, think i'll prefer being a passenger.

Will likely get Sabre and Vangaurd.

I've melted that many packages over the years that now we've got the unmelt option I can just pull out most ships from that, shocked how many I've got available should I opt to unmelt them.

Oddly enough doesn't include my Starfarer Gemini which is a bit wierd!

I currently have an Andromada , Superhornet (with sabre upgrade waiting) 2 auroras and 3 P72s.

I might actually bite the bullet in the next sale and get a carrack.
