Dragon's Dogma Up for Pre-Order on Steam

I played some last night and the port is good, as to be expected. Nothing mind blowing considering it's a last-gen game (it actually looks rather poor in some places in regards to textures, etc.) but runs pretty well. Also lacks any "proper" AA methods, FXAA seems to be the only option which makes the whole thing a blurry, smeary mess. Luckily there's already SweetFX/Reshade profile popping up so you can probably inject a nicer method instead.

Plays pretty well with mouse n' keyboard too. Think I'll stick to a controller for these types of games, but it's nice being able to bind inventory items to number keys (e.g. lantern). You can't really do that on controller, so it's actually quite tempting to go with a keyboard this time round :D

Dunno if it'll interest many people, but there's already Cheat Engine scripts coming out too. Don't frown down at me just yet, the one I was interested in lets you use the item that re-does your character customisation whenever, instead of post-game iirc.

It's nice to see the "revival" of this game, it's actually selling pretty well on Steam too (was No. 1 on the charts at one point, probably still up there.)

Looking forward to playing the legit copy and sharing pawns :D
 
I too tried out the "demo" version of it and it ran at a lovely 60fps locked with every thing on max. Well worth the cash. Looking forward to Friday. Lets get a steam name list up for Pawn swopping. So far I only have four people on my account with it.

Never played it on console, what is "pawn shopping" exactly and how will it work? I understand pawns are the characters that are like companions, but thats all.

Pawns can be both just picked from the game or you can use friends companions as pawns. The player/friend companions have advantages like higher levels than yourself. Plus if they have encountered a boss before you they can help with tips and tactics and such.

I think you can have up to two pawns I believe as well as your own companion while playing.

I'm not fully sure of all the details myself as I'm yet to play the game.

PS3 had much lower framerates than on 360. 360 suffered from heavy screen tearing, though.

So both were awful, it was just a matter of picking your poison. I promise you it did not 'run fine' on your PS3.

It literally runs in the low 20's for most of the time. Way more than a 'little choppy' for me!

I'm gonna see if I cant get it running at 4k/60fps with my GTX970. If not, I'll be happy with something like 1600-1800p.

Sad to see that people are pirating the game already. :(

Capcom deserve better for this.

Why would you buy a monitor that you know wont be supported by many games and then refuse to buy all the games that dont fully support it?

I feel like if you buy something like a 120hz or 21:9 monitor, you should be prepared to accept that you'll still have to play games at 60hz or 16:9 at times.

I mean, do you what you need to do, but I cant imagine missing out on a bunch of great games simply because they dont support my niche hardware device fully.

Anyways, looks like one advantage of the pirated copies going around is that there will be some ENB's, SweetFX profiles, an addition of HBAO+ and a way to mod in the original intro song all ready for launch tomorrow.

PC gaming is awesome. :)

Gmg had this listed as released on the 14th, but im pretty sure its friday. Can we vpn it early or anything? Preloaded and ready to go! Saying that i doubt ill have time tday anyway :(

I guess me and the other ps3 players (in the dd megathread) must have blanked out that whole traumatic experience and enjoyed the game regardless but thanks for finding my sold ps3, booting up Dragons Dogma and confirming that yeah ohh wow yeah the framerates are criminal here omg i will have to run to the forums and let Surfer know......:rolleyes:
