The *Official* Eve Online Thread

What's with all these portraits and strange colouring in local? I was in Ommare.

I played for a few months about two years ago. Activated my account again this week. So I am a bit out of the loop with things and also no corp. Is anyone recruiting or ingame to help me get up to speed with things again? E.g. ships for missions and so forth. Thanks

On a tangent to your logged off ships - messaged you on Steam...

Dunno if its CCP trolling me or what (maybe not showing correctly due to being unsubscribed) but just did an API update on my characters and only 2 out of 7 that I had logged off in the WH when I left appear to be there - the 2 carrier chars (though they have probing stuff in the hangar). The other 5 characters are showing as being in random highsec stations that I've never even visited :S

From memory you can get teleported to highsec if you don't login for a long time. But I always assumed that was something you could ask for rather than something automatic...

Yeah you had to request that. I wonder if its something to do with grid changes and certain things needing to be moved due to incompatibilities maybe.

Chances are though its just bad API pulls. The API does update when unsubbed.

Couple of them were in positions where I could imagine expanded grids having some consequences though I can't imaging it would break anything enough to be moved - but one of them was logged off on the same grid as one of the carriers. I can't imagine them moving characters right out of WHs though if there was an issue as that could result in people being shut out of wherever they setup their POS.

When I last checked about 2 months after my accounts had expired it was showing them in wormholes :S

Dunno why you're so worried, thought you had no intention of coming back anyway :D I guess you can just ask CCP to move your stuff should you ever return to the game?

Not worried if I did return I'd probably just ask for them to be moved and both carriers have scanning modules in cargo and atleast 1 probing ship inside anyhow - just curious.

Hey Rroff, do you think you will need all of your seven chars? Let me explain why I am asking. You see, I have only one account and I don’t intend to use more than that but....CCP is going to introduce SP extractors which may help new players to boost their skills training, so I am looking for unwanted alt with some SP, which I could use to boost my painfully long sentry drones training. I know you could sell it for ISKs and make a profit but some ppl don’t really bother and as a result accounts’ are wasted and never used again. In this case even the poorest one with 2-3mil SP will do the job ;] you can transfer all assets away...just naked SP needed.

^^ I have no intention of subscribing my accounts (which would be required to transfer SP) and while I can't see myself ever coming back to the game (short of a monumental change by CCP) most of my characters are specifically trained to the roles they play so it would screw me over if I did come back ever.

start a couple of trial accounts using a friend invite, then subscribe.

You get free game time for main account + trials.

Train for a couple of months, strip SP and redo :)

Not a bad idea :) I was watching o7 yesterday and SPs itself do not seem to be very expensive, depends on AUR price of the injector I can possibly afford to buy some for ISKs. Now when lots of explores focused on serpentis sites looking for research components, I found 3!!! Superior caches in low sec in 2 hours...or maybe it was just my lucky day. On the other side....XCOM2 is coming, it looks promising, I will probably play a bit less in EVE. Tried to put my skill plan into Evemoon...it looks really depressing :)

Try planning all the carrier stuff to V including support skills, tactical logistics reconfiguration, RR compensation, advanced drone interfacing and fighters (plus stick in fighter bombers to V and the skills for remote ecm burst for lols incase you plan on flying a super) and then have CCP let someone with almost zero knowledge of capitals **** with it... now that is depressing :P

(Its like a 1200 day train with L4 implants).

Zero knowledge? Google suggests Larrikin was Dark Razer in PL, someone who based on the reddit thread discussing it has a lot of experience in Capitals and who was expected to actually expected to make supers too powerful if anything. That aside you think he single handedly made the design decisions without anyone else in CCP validating them?

My reference was towards Rise when he "nerf batted" skynet - who did seem to be making executive decisions on capital changes at that time without anyone else validating them as he missed several things due to his inexperience that had to be hastily fixed at the last minute (hence the discrepancy between the patch notes and actual implementation).

I know little about Larrikin other than he seems to have a much better broad knowledge of the game - Rise is very much a specialist in certain areas. (I don't have anything against Rise just that he seems like the last person who should have overall lead on something like that even though his input would be invaluable on the impact on smaller ships side of it).

EDIT: However my perspective in general is that CCP are too cavalier towards changes that can effect things that take significant investment in the game rather than specific to that instance.

I used to play this game a few years ago. I never got that into it because of time restrictions but I'm on the look out for my next "big game" to play. I keep coming back to EVE Online and am seriously thinking about subscribing again but I'm a bit nervous as I've pretty much forgotten how to play the game.

Last time I played I was waiting to get into EVE University but it took an age and I had to quit before I actually got in.

I'd love to get into a corp and do some real team based PvP and if I could do that it would be good.

I've just added my character to EVEMon and I have 9 million skill points and 71 million ISK on my main character. I know its not much but I'd love to have a go at playing again. Any suggestions?

Stopped playing @ 80 odd mill SP.

Everyone I knew stopped playing so let the chars rot in digital hell so to speak, is it still against the rules to sell them?
