Retro console and games thread

Apologies if I've asked this before here but, what can I do to stop getting the washed out look from my N64 output? You can pick a scart-HDMI for around £20, would this work?

Don't really have the space for a CRT unfortunately :(

Not sure what would stop it exactly, but I'm sure using S-Video would help.

The N64 doesn't have RGB scart output without being modded.

What are you using currently? I use a component (EDIT: or is that composite :o) video lead (like the standard Gamecube one) and the picture is fine for me. You have to be careful buying them cheaply online because it needs a resistor to colour fix the video otherwise the picture will be over saturated.

This place isn't cheap but you know exactly what you're getting.

Using official composite, tried via scart block and without and still the same (not sure if this would make any difference)

That's composite for you. Your not going to improve composite cheaply and a LCD will just exaggerate it's inherent flaws.

The N64 has a naturally soft image anyways. S-Video is your only real option without spending cash.

SCART is just a plug that can carry all sorts of signals. Feed it composite and that's what it will display.

Can pick up an S-Video for a few quid, will give that a try. Thanks!

Just wanted to post this as I thought it was great!

I have some extra amiga games coming soon and also have a nice box of big box pc games coming from mate for free :) doom trilogy and monster truck madness and super space invaders to name just a few :)

Had to take my LED TV back, everytime you turned it on, it kept doing "First Time Installation", i.e region settings and TV tunning.
Got a replacement yesterday and it had the same bloody problem! So in the end I got a refund. :(

Edit - can anyone recommend a good Retro Gaming Forum, really need some input on TV's.

Just found my old NES Super Set boxed in the cupboard, in decent condition too. Some crazy prices on eBay, is it worth selling or some I keep hold of it?

Also found my zx81 with a box full of games, might fire it up if I get time.

My first pick up in a while. MD I and 53 games, paid £100.

Now I've just got to clean it all up :(

Great pick up and a very good price, some nice games in there.

A few of my pick ups.

All of them were parts of different bundles I've bought. Kept what wanted out of them and moved the rest on for a small profit. So I make a few quid and get a lot of pick ups for free.

May start with N64 games, got a few when i wanted to start collecting a few years back and some seller in ebay sent them in a clear plastic cover the same size as the boxes but i never knew where to get more of these?

Anyone know what im on about?

Also pro tips on finding deals? Where to look, where to avoid
