I have seen GOTG twice, and it is a decidely average film... however anyone calling it "the worst movie they have seen in in years" either has no sense of perspective, or only ever researched and watched well-rated movies without taking any risks.

I have seen many, many worse movies in my life with far less like-able characters than GOTG.

You take it awful personal when somebody dislikes something you like. Perhaps it's because you believe you have "ultimate" taste, and so I must be wrong whenever I disagree? I can certainly see some hypocrisy there, otherwise you'd let me have my opinion and wouldn't make such a big deal over it.

Simply put, I have standards and GotG didn't meet them. Is that so hard to believe? As for the guy saying I don't like it because it's popular - rubbish. I don't like it for reasons I've enumerated before. It's just a dire movie.

Maybe I haven't seen "enough" awful, awful movies. I choose not to watch the crap that's on SyFy, for example. GotG gets about 3/10 from me, and I'm afraid I might be being overly generous.

I don't think it should get more because SyFy churn out movies that are barely watchable. I think it should get 3/10 as that's all it deserves. Everything about it was crap.

Now come on, tell me why I'm "wrong" :p

This isn't twitter and I don't follow you, so forgive me for not knowing what your actual reasons are beyond "everything about it was crap".

It's a matter of opinion, not absolutes. Besides, this is all hugely off-topic in a SW thread.

Suffice to say I didn't like it, and the people saying either that "You're hating on it because it's popular", or "It's popular so it must be good" are both equally wrong to do so. Note that this does not mean anyone's opinion of the film is wrong, just that those statements are wrong.

And for their information, I've liked plenty of "popular" films/shows. Inception, Game of Thrones, and many more. My dislike for GotG is nothing to do with some kind of backlash against what's popular. I just think everything about it is crap!

I'll get told off for derailing in a minute (even tho it wasn't me who started this GotG talk) so I'll stop right here.
 
GotG gets a lot of praise because it was a little "edgey" with the humour compared to the other MCU family friendly movies. Also the soundtrack was pretty good, people could immediately form an emotional attachment via the songs.

At the time it was a breath of fresh air from the other MCU movies. Now that Deadpool is out, it's hit home just how tame GOTG humour was.

It is indeed a matter of opinion. No one is right or wrong. From what I can gather, the reason why sexygreyfox said you are worse than easyrider, is not because you have the opinion that GotG is a pile of manure, but because you said you are amazed that anyone likes it. From my point of view, that goes further than just being an opinion. That could seem like a more subtle way of saying that your opinion on GotG is the correct one.

I like GotG. That you think it's rubbish, doesn't bother me at all; everyone has their likes and dislikes. If you tell me that my opinion is wrong though, well that's entirely different and would probably involve some choice words. :p

Why don't you watch it first before attacking my right to an opinion. When I say "I'm amazed anyone likes it", that basically means I found /nothing/ to praise it for. Absolutely nothing.

Frankly I don't care if you find that turn of phrase insulting. People get insulted by the stupidest of crap these days, and I won't walk around on eggshells for such people.

Somebody else pointed out, you have a right to an opinion and I'll defend your right to an opinion but you have already shown in this thread that you like to go beyond 'Your opinion'.
I don't need to watch it to see that you think you are on a high horse.
What I think of the film doesn't matter, I just don't like people who are judgemental of others because of what they enjoy.

And the comment I made was at all of you talking trash taking this thread off topic etc etc

Use the RTM function if you think a post is a insult, spam, off topic and causing disruption.
