One weird thing with my 810... Mine has a current 'feature' which may or may not be user error... Riding along with data screens yet following a course, I'll reach a segment I've got 'followed'/favourite and the screen will change. I stop/back it from the segment screen and it takes me back to the map screen. Nothing I do will take me from the map screen, no swipes and pressing the back arrow 'cancels' the course I'm following. I think it only does this after 2+ hours of riding... ???

yeah I've not bothered with the new segment stuff, looks like a lot of hassle and pain

I got a pair of GP4000Sii for £43 the other week from Sportpursuit when they were doing 20% off.
Awesome deal! Well done! Nearly got around to fitting mine on the weekend but ran out of time.
Just checked to see when my Garmin is due and its not till Friday !

That's some slow posting :(
Sheesh, where did you order that from? Canyon?! Lol ;):D
This is why I'm glad that Wahoo has at least launched a potential challenger.
Yeah I hope they continue to develop, same with Cateye really as both are brands I'd trust and happily use in place of Garmin. Garmin need a wakeup call with their pricing, features and reliability! Until now they've been able to somewhat dictate the market...
These will be with me tomorrow - http://www.wiggle.co.uk/fizik-cyrano-r1-carbon-road-handlebar/?sku=5360605612

Plus the seatpost.
Plus the bar tape.
Plus the matching stem that I won on eBay for £40.

Will I float up hills and then snap all my finishing kit in the sprint? :p
Who cares, you'll look awesome with matching finishing kit, that is winning regardless of position! :D

Related note, did a good 4.5 hours of maintenance on mine yesterday... Fizik bar gel pads & bar tape now fitted. Looks awesome with my Arione too. Went with the gel pads to try and reduce some of the numb/sore hands I occasionally experience. Bars now feel huge! Check the 'lip' from tape to bars!

Not the easiest job and only the 2nd time I've done brand new tape. Texture feels great (I came from a rubbery/corky type before).

Also replaced all gear & brake cables along with all outers & refitted mudguards in preparation for this weeks commuting (boo). Full clean & relube (was going to leave this until later in the week but hard to ignore road dirt when you keep getting it on you when trying to do other things!). Reindexed gears and refitted my inline adjuster. RD cable was long overdue as indexing is now better than it has been for months! Sweet! :D
Ran out of time slightly as was going to switch out my Conti 4Seasons for the new GP4000Sii's but that can wait a week. Noticed quite a bit more damage to my rear than I was expecting, surface of the tyre 'cracking' lots too but they're still going strong. Might not get the 2 winters out of both of them like I wanted...

Repaired my damaged shorts by restitching them, quite impressed with my handiwork as I'd heard horror stories of stitching lycra before and previously used pronty patches. As this damage was over a seam I decided to try sewing first as can always pronty them again/afterwards.

After:

:D
It 'sticks out' as this is on the outside with the pad on the inside, couldn't have it sticking inside without unstitching a big area of the pad which I'd then need to restitch...

Does anyone have experience of moulded insoles? I don't have any pain or issues but from years of squatting & deadlifting I do place a lot of emphasis on the outer edge of my feet. On a particularly long ride these can start to feel it a bit but I think having fairly budget shoes is a contributing factor.

Was planning on getting a pair of Fizik 3D Flex Insoles to go with some R5B's (when I finally bite the bullet).

My LBS want £60 and can mould them in store but I've found them online for under £40 but I'm not sure if they need to be heated in the specific Fizik oven or if they can be moulded at home?

Edit: Doesn't look like it. Will see how I get on with the R5B's and if insoles are needed.

I got a set of SIDAS custom footbeds made up as part of my bike fit and they were probably the best bit of the whole fit, made my foot feel significantly more supported and reduced a lot of pain I had before.

You don't necessarily have to go to a bike shop to get them fitted, it might be worth looking around your local area to see if there are any recommended podiatrists who will make up custom insoles. They're the experts after all.

Indeed. I've not even installed the update the supports it. Sounds like an utter waste of time.
I only installed it hoping to improve my 810's performance/reliability! ;)

I'm wearing the Specialized Body Geometry footbeds after my bike fit. I wear the 'Blue' (which is medium) to give myself arch support. I've bought 3 pairs (for all sets of shoes/boots) which did work out a little expensive but well worth it long term... If I'd known my arches were collapsing sooner I'd have bought them and tried them before having my Bike fit...

Can anyone recommend me some new bib shorts that have a high cut/zip at the front?

I've got a bit of a belly and find the fully front zipped ones much comfier whilst still allowing all important wee breaks!
I wouldn't compromise on the shorts you want over 'access' for toilet breaks... The majority of shorts will stretch enough to allow it. Although personally I've only had a 'nature' break (ie when out riding) a handful of times in the whole of 2015-16. Certainly less than 5!

I've only seen front zips on a few bib tights, my DHB Vaeon unpadded are one of them. Think I've seen them on Gore kit as well. Not sure of other brands...

Tyre news for Frenchtart and other Pro4 users. Michelin are replacing them with the "Power" line of tyres, available in Endurance, All Season and Competition versions. Endurance replaces Endurance, All Season replaces Grip and Competition replaces Service Course. Presumably the Pro4 Comp tyre is replaced by something from Continental.

Seems a bit odd given they've barely got the Pro4 v2 tyres out the door. Maybe there'll be bargains on those, same as there were on Pro4 v1s last year...

Yeah, I read this earlier. Quite interesting - hopefully the improvement comparisons are against v2s and not v1s.

They should've kept the Pro name for the All Seasons so we could confuse everyone by talking about Pro 4 All Seasons tyres... ;)

I'm not convinced that the update does improve performance/reliability - marketing spiel yo :)
I didn't pin many hopes on it to be honest. Although I wouldn't say it is *worse* so technically (I'm being hyper critical) it must be better as I'm now more acute to anything it does 'wrong'.
TLDR; Mitchelin replace their tyre range for the 3rd time in 3 years shocker! :D;)
Hardly surprising, although I'm surprised that it's only 5kg? I've lost more than that and I know I wasn't particularly 'big' before...! Although admittedly I cycle much more than my commute!

Although:
Public transport also shown to offer health benefits over driving
Que?!

Speaking about tyres, I bought my Continental Four Seasons today. Ended up getting them from Sigma Sport, because I missed the 20% off Sport Pursuit deal.

Still, they are coming with 3 Conti inner tubes, so that's good. Bought the 25s. I'm so fed up of the crappy road surfacing around here, that the Ambrosio Nemesis tub rims are calling to me (Used to be used by everyone during Paris-Roubaix). Those of the Ambrosio Excellight clinchers with Miche hubs. Just need to enquire about pricing.

Excellights are cracking rims, it's probably not worth paying the extra over excellence if you're using porky hubs like Miche though.

Tubulars are quite inconvenient, they're a high days/race days tyre really.

I guess PT users generally have to walk to and from their stops whereas drivers park as close as possible. I know for me it's about a mile extra walking getting the tram over driving in each day. When you do as little exercise as most people do that makes a big difference.

Ok cool. Thanks for the info on the Excellights :) Do you own a set yourself?

I only chose Miche as Wheelsmith recommends them as being damn good for the cost in their FAQ.

yeah I've got a pair of SIDAS insoles as well. My feet are a bit of a state though with flat insole and collapsing ankles, have some carbon insoles for my normal shoes as well. The SIDAS have made cycling shoes way more comfy for me but it took a few times trying to get them to get a good set.

The first place mucked up 2 sets before making a good set a few years ago for my SPD commute shoes. Had another set made for my weekend shoes last year and they got them right first time, really depends on the guy making them. Last set was part of a bike fit.
