I wish they would do a Bran on Arya and just have her go missing for the season until she gets to wherever it is she going. Her scenes are tedious now ive been FF them since last season.

What a load of drivel that was. The characters stories are so strung out that I've got barely any idea of whats going on any more.

Made me rage when 'important chap on a horse no.1431' , stopped, looked down and saw the ring. WOW, WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF THAT!

Also made me rage when no penis boy tried to save hot annoying important daughter by giving himself up. And the arrival of big brutal girl warrior who saved the day. GOOD TIMING! Where did the dogs go?

And why is unmemorable young daughter blind?

They need to cull some characters.

Yea, you really need to watch the lot again as you're missing quite a few points.

I've seen the whole thing through twice now and I have a far better idea who everyone is (far too many characters in a way) and what their 'angle' is.

Watch black sails, remember all the characters and understand the story from start to finish, with each season

Watch Vikings, same again as above

Watch Game of Thrones, get lost in what's going on, don't give a bleep about most of the characters, and forget what happened in the previous season. Yes it's entertainment, but Black Sails is much better than this. Game of thrones is dragon ball z, lots of fillers

You're blaming the show for your poor memory?

Nothing about poor memory, it's the constant flicking from one character to another, with rather tedious and slow story telling. How long did we need to see you know what standing there at the end? Why did we need to see little man and his bigger friend doing that long walk for about 20mins? That's one episode and there's not many left

Where's the Nic Cage laughing gif when you need it?

I am not a huge GOT fan, it never meets it's potential but the quote above is absurd.

Captain Vane is a damn fine character, Long John Silver and how he came to be , the big battle at charlestown, the English being attacked by Teech and his buddies... Or a short battle sequence, a gay love scene and a bit of character swapping in Game of Thrones.

:D

Waits for purists to say " If you don't like it, don't watch it, because it offends me ". It's an ok show yes, but the best thing ever? NO WAY

The problem I find is its inly 9 or 10 episodes per season and because of its high budget they'll not increase the amount of episodes per season. But it so needs it, there is too much going on in so little time. 15 episodes per season would cater far better, they'd be able to dedicate more time to each story lines and segragate them better. As its shown, it's quite a cluster **** and requires a lot of attention and it's hard to keep up unless you read up on it in the background as well.

I just think it's all getting a bit contrived, and would benefit from a stronger narrative if the show spent more time with fewer characters in an episode, rather than drip feeding bits of the plot for each of the characters.

I think you will find it was done this way because it is the first episode of the season so they wanted to give you and update on how each of the plots ended with Season 5. You should find now that the next few episodes will be themed to a couple of plots per episode, so there won't be as much flicking between each story line.

I'm wth you entirely.

We'll just agree to disagree on this. Watched BS, like it, it passes the time but it's not something that would ever get a second watch, it's a light bit of fluff by comparison.

Plenty of gay love in Black Sails...the good kind though :D

They did the same last season, but I think they split that season start update across the first two episodes.

Not sure how people struggle to keep up really. I've not touched the books, or read up about anything in the back ground. Hell I've not even gone back and watched last season.

It doesn't seem bad at all to me.

The last episode of Vikings threw a random time jump in, now that confused people.

If you watch G.O.T you know what to expect from the first couple episodes, We will get a mid season OMG moment then it will slow down and build to final episode.

Thanks for clearing up some points folks.

However, someone mentioned that I don't watch the programme 'regularly'. That is a slight problem when it's not on TV for nearly a year! End of Season 5 was in June last year! :) I've watched all the episodes as soon they've come out since season 4 I think. I binged the first 3 (which I seem to remember as being the best of the bunch).

I get the plot points mostly. But I'll be the first to admit that I struggle with names, not only of people but places too. And when people have loads of names, such as Kaleesi or Arya, that doesn't help.

I just think it's all getting a bit contrived, and would benefit from a stronger narrative if the show spent more time with fewer characters in an episode, rather than drip feeding bits of the plot for each of the characters.

Yeah but you're missing entire plot points. massive, story defining plot points. It's got nothing to do with it not being on for a year, come on now. It's you not paying attention.

so you're basically saying you're a bit slow and can't follow the show? :p

In truth, I want more episodes with more time for each character... Look at how many battles were shortened that could've been longer with more impact aswell. This isn't the only show to drag it out either, The Walking Dead is just as bad.

I don't get why people are using spoiler tags to discuss things that have already been broadcast?

How did the sand snakes end up on the boat in Kings Landing harbour with the young Dornish Prince, I'm sure we left them on the shore at the end of season 5?

(removed the spoiler tags)

Yes that does seem to be a bit unexplained, did they somehow catch up with the ship and sneak on board with the assistance of the Dornish crew?

Also since they seem to have the support of most of Dorne they might as well not have bothered with the poison and killed all of them on the dock before they left Dorne + taken Bronn and Jamie with them too... why wait till the letter arrived to kill the prince, why bother travelling to catch up with the ship to kill his son...

Also the Cersei carnage that the trailers seem to suggest might be fun. Nuttier than squirrel poo but drives the plot nicely.

(maybe I'm being pedantic here but the above quote I've put in spoilers as it is actually referring to a trailer and not a broadcast episode)

guess based partly on the books
yup in the recent trailer with the Lannister guards approaching her under orders from the King that would seem to be her Uncle taking over, there are also the other trailers showing a potential fight with the faith militant types...

the walking dead doesn't move much plot forwards at all and is full of useless filler episodes - kind of the opposite of what you're complaining about with game of thrones surely??? You're talking about wanting more time with characters and battles being shortened. If anything there is plenty going on in each GoT episode as they've got so much to cram in.

Good but weird start to the new season. As everyone else has said, cracking jebs followed by me wanting to claw my eyes out....

I had re watched all seasons in December and January again so knew what was what
