I'll be scanning eBay looking for a bargain 980ti, or I may upgrade to a 1080 depending on the benchmarks.

If the price is sensible and the performance does end up being 980 SLI beating as claimed, then I might sell my 980s and pick one up. The main thing is the VRAM, being a 1440p user, the 4GB on the 980s can be a risk should I decide to stay.

980 will probably only get about 125 quid or so compared to now but they've served me well.

Can't see 980's dropping to 125 quid anytime soon, people still paying 170 for a 970 at the minute.

I'm not a fan of them and it's not the issue. I have a drain port on my loop so that doesn't take long to drain my loop. It's more reblocking the cards which takes the time. Aircooling is so much easier in comparison when it comes to swapping out gpus.

Prob wait for the 1080Ti i think the hassle of selling and buying again isn't worth the increase imo.

I don't think they'll drop that low, but if they did, from a purely money and value perspective, you'd be mad to buy a launch day 1080 at £600 if you could bag a used decent 980ti at a ridiculously low price.

That's an option too. If people start throwing their 980Tis away then I'd happily sell my 980s and bag two cheap 980Tis.

I don't think they will TBH...

It will all depend on real world gains ...

Most would rather wait I reckon and take even more of a hit when 1080ti comes out.

Quite a few won't be wanting to sell at a low price just to go to an 1080.

Only people who will want to go SLI will pay above average on somewhere like the members market. The rest will get the new shiny tech that is the 1070 instead.

No. Maybe a year from now, but not anytime soon. Such talk is ridiculous, and a price drop of this magnitude is totally unjustified given the performance of the cards. It simply won't happen. 980's will hold around £200 for a while and Ti's in excess of £300 (although most people will be VERY reluctant to sell for that, meaning pickings will be slim). The price on the 1070 will not be particularly aggressive as it has no reason to be, and a 980Ti is still a stonking card in comparison! The 1070 will be priced closer to £400 than £300 most likely, and with the 1080 reference (Founder's Edition) coming in around the £600 mark, anyone who thinks they can get a 980Ti for less than half that is simply delusional. There's some powerful crack being smoked around here lately. :cool:

It's all the cheapskates coming out of the woodwork trying to talk the price down on a card they couldn't afford a few weeks ago.

You only have to look at recent 2nd hand values of previous top end cards for a clearer picture. I sold a 780 for £135 not long ago, whilst 780tis were still fetching around £170-180, bearing in mind how long the 980ti has been around those prices make some of these "I'll give you £200 for your 980ti" offers almost insulting.

Anyway, its all nonsense. As said above, this forum loses its **** on a yearly/ bi-yearly cycle when new GPUs are approaching. It's entertaining though.

I would probably run a competition to give mine away if it was £200, people would have to properly embarrass themselves to win though
