If you have paddock stands or a way to get the wheels off, and a car to take the loose wheels then it's normally £5-10 cheaper per wheel for fitting. Well worth it.

I normally pay no more than £15 to get a tyre fitted to a loose wheel.

two local places, both with wheel still on the bike.... £40+5 for them disposing of old tyres and the other is £30. I just thought if it would be quite a bit cheaper I'd take them off myself because you don't need an appointment for loose wheels.
And annoyingly everywhere is closed on sundays :(

Anyone else get

"OK mate,do a wheelie,oi,oi mush,do a wheelie" some guy at the lights rolled down his window,**** off I don't wanna do a wheelie

Had him and an idiot try and race me in a Nissan today

I'm not sure a poorly maintained chain is a reason to buy a whole new bike!

I know but, you know when you get that feeling that nothing is going to go right with something and its better to just get rid...

Edit, in the ad for the bike they said it had a new chain and sprocket not long ago, and with the new MOT on it should have been checked?

MOT doesn't cover anything like that, that would be picked up in a service.
If it really did have a new chain and sprockets fitted recently then it was done badly, they either didn't rivet the chain properly/apply the grease between the O rings when riveting it or it's not seen a lick of oil since it was fitted.

Try and get a picture of the front and rear sprockets, I imagine if they'd not been changed and the chain was in that bad a condition there'll be some obvious wear on the sprocket teeth as well.

What bike is it? It's not a big job to fit a new chain, your sprockets should still be ok

It's always better to change sprockets if you are changing the chain even if they look "okay" to you. As he doesn't actually know for certain that the sprockets/chain were new this is even more true. Also, the chain being loose enough to come off means the sprockets will be in a **** state.

I know that,I mean if it was a new chain n sprockets and just the chain snapped then just replace the chain

You'll tell worn sprockets the teeth are pointy or begin to hook over

I think I'll be due a new chain and sprockets soonish, in the next few months. Starting to get towards the limit of adjustment and it's needing adjustment every 4-5 weeks rather than 4-5 months now. Got around 15k miles on the current chain and sprockets, so should see 18k or so out of them.

The chain would have been checked in the mot adjustment tight spots condition e.t.c and the rear sprocket visually inspected it.s all full of if's and buts on how long you had the bike after this happened but for sure a chain would need to take some serious neglect before if would come off.

Bike is choking when I snap the throttle, even on idle. Not sure what it is yet but I'm going to start with the airbox

Could be air filter, plugs, spark caps, fuel pump or trapped fuel line. Check for any air leaks too!

Regarding working on your bike, I don't mind doing it, I feel happy that I've done it my self and saved £££. I've been to some places before were I can't trust them anymore. When I first got my sv, the speedo didn't work, got a garage to look at it and turned out to be the plastic speedo drive (common on pointys) got the bike back and didn't tighten the bolt on which keeps the front spindle from undoing.

Big jobs like engine work, or anything to do with throttle bodies, I'm not comftable doing. I wouldn't touch the forks, or any bearings for that matter too. Anything else I'll have a crack at it.

Well, I'm not longer a member of the SV club.

I have bought a new bike today - took a fairly hefty hit on the trade in but I just didn't feel as though the SV was going to get any better.

The new bike is a 2011 CBR 600f, come with lifetime guarantee, free MOTs for life ect.

Was 4-5 people all looking at it when I was there and as my deal got approved someone else had literally just tried to buy it.

Pick it up later this week
