I suppose if you was happy with the state of SLI, then going SLI 1070 is definitely a good option.

I personally love sticking a game on and for it will always work as it should. I have found SLI and Crossfire to mean having to wait a while or in some cases no support at all.

Maybe SLI has improved recently though. But last I checked Gregster was not happy with it and went back to a single card.
 
Only problem I've ever had with SLi is that sometimes it doesn't max out both gfx cards, but that's usually fixed in a patch/driver or 2.

And Gregster sold his 2nd TitanX due to him having some microstutter issues when combined with Gsync (something a few people can seem to pickup, I'm one who doesn't)

In all seriousness. Who is doing the "reviews"? Are these people given cards by Nvidia? or have they bought them? or what?

Because if they were given them by Nvidia then you are looking at cherry picked people, with cherry picked chips, playing cherry picked titles...

And yes I would say the exact same thing for AMD.

I will wait for the Joe Public reviews I think.

OC3D, Anandtech, Techpowerup etc... all get given the cards from Nvidia but they aren't cherrypicked.

Everytime I have read reviews by any of them I mentioned and then got the corresponding card I've always gotten higher core and memory clocks.

The only time cherry picking is really a thing is when the reviews are done by the company that actually makes said product.

Just more headaches if you are going to watercool. I remember buying a Gigabyte one once which was a certain version which was incompatible with standard waterblocks and one was never made for it. Silly thing is there were three versions of the same model out and two were compatible with the waterblocks.

At the risk of sounding too pessimistic...
I know that Hardware Cannucks has a 1080 in his hands. I hardly expect his review to be "fair". He is hardly going to come out and say he doesn't like it. Seeing as Nvidia pays the bulk of his wages. Pay for him to go to trade shows etc. Same with plenty others. I eagerly await the Joe Public reviews.
I'm excited about these "reviews" too, just think people should see them for what they are. Pinch of salt and all that.

It less about who they give a card to and more about who they don't just look at the Nano review fiasco got giving a card to the likes of Hardocp or kit guru. If you have faith in your product you are going to get it into as many hands as possible.
 
Unless NVIDIA were outright lying they didn't cherry pick the card they used for the DreamHack presentation.
I'm not convinced all the review copies have been cherry picked.
