** NVIDIA GTX 1080 FOUNDERS EDITION: WANNA PRE-ORDER?

Well now all that sold their 980ti's because of all the scaremongering now regret it for sure... Basically they are going to pay £300 extra on what they sold their cards for and all for a %20 increase at best and worse cooler than the ones they had on their 980ti's..


Expect the AIB cards with better coolers to be £700+ for a mid range chip..


All waiting for the huge price drops on Maxwell cards... It won't happen, this is a new price tier so not to devalue the older cards. The 1070 will be at best £450-475.

Exactly, NVIDIA were talking at that panel as if some Better cooled custom cards would come in at the $599 price range as well. That's complete ******.

A decent cooler on it with better components is going to cost a bomb.

Still can't believe this reference card costs more than the EVGA Superclocked 980Ti's I got on launch. Damn.
It's even worse as I pay in Euros and extra to get this to Ireland. Hoping AMD having something special with Polaris to at least get the prices down a bit.

Yeah im for sure glad I didnt sell my Ti's. I'll wait for pricing on AIB cards. If its anything like the £620-£650. I will be keeping them.

£500-550 and I might bite for two custom cards. Then add waterblocks once released by EK down the line.

Stupid price, but will no doubt come down significantly through June and once the custom boards come out.

Still, who can blame them? They don't have any competition even close to the 1080 as it stands. I don't begrudge them for trying it on, if stupid and/or rich people are willing to pay that. That is how the economy works.

AMD need to pull their finger out.

Its nVidia seeing how far they can push it and nothing at all about not devaluing the older cards.

I wouldn't hold your breath. These are pre order prices for the version that has a $100 more list price. The founders editions on release were always going to be silly money.

Amigafan - what bios/settings are you using for your card. I'm on 1529/4050 on stock volts water blocked...high asic ...with the right bios I might be able to get close to you

It's looking likely that I will be keeping my Ti's. Unless AIB cards are a good £80-100 cheaper.

Also wondering why we have seen so little with regards to custom cards at the minute. No real photos have appeared. Only the ugly Galax one which I would not be seen dead with.

I was going to wait till TI/Titan variant, but in any case would not have bought it for the price quoted - this should be £400 level card max at launch.
 
Not sure why people seem to think AIB cards will be significantly cheaper. They have always been roughly the same price, or quite a bit more then "reference" (now "founders") cards.

I think a cheaper price for AIB cards was mooted at the Nvidia 1080 press announcement, but given how much of that was fudgy ********, are you really holding out hope? I wouldn't.
 
Not buying, I got a dxracer chair instead ...

I somewhat regretted paying 600 for fury x, and I dont think I've gotten my monies worth from that card yet.

Really expected mainstream pascal to be around £400

OcUK is making a fortune on those as were pretty much the only store worldwide with a NVIDIA reference 970, OcUK was first and last on that one as I designed it. :D

Reality was when I had a few thousand in stock we were selling them sub £300. :)

Typically a high-end custom card with more power phase, improved cooling cost more than a reference design card.

Another example being we was selling the 980Ti reference cards at £500, whereas KingPin cards were £750. Reference cards are typically never the most expensive.
