** NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 900 SERIES PRICE DROP!! **

people comparing the 1080 to 980 Ti in 3d mark, yes it doesn't look like a big difference though reading the MSI GTX 1080 review on techpowerup that was posted today and the asus review posted on HEXUS it shows they're anywhere from 30-50% faster than a stock 980 Ti, now add at best 25% performance increase from a heavily overclocked 980 Ti we're still looking at a 20% performance boost add an additional 5-10% increase when overclocking the 1080 and we're back upto 20-30% faster than a 980 Ti both overclocked, now at 4k with the extra Vram so no stuttering in certain games (BO3 ROTTR) I'll happily take that at the cost of £97 considering I sold my 980 Ti classified for £500 8 weeks ago :D

I thought the 980Ti OC was anywhere between 25-45% ? For example, stock boost 1075 + 40% gives a nice 1505. I wouldn't waste time with 4k yet, not even with 1080's. Next upgrade for me will be from 1440p IPS to 3440x1440 IPS with Adaptive Sync. So Nvidia better get their finger out soon with support.

To make a small profit, get a newer architecture, and newer features?

Profit how?

Let us say you bought a 980ti when it was full RRP a few months ago, a mid range AIB card, what were they about £550?

So now you want a 1070 so you sell your 980ti for what looks like being about £325 ish (so £225 out of pocket so far).

For a reasonable AIB 1070 you're looking at £420 ish, so the "upgrade" to a 1070 costs you another £100 on top of what you get for your 980ti, I don't see much profit there and in the end you don't get much, (if any if you have a decent clocker 980ti) performance gain, 6GB of RAM is plenty at 1440p so the 8Gb is moot and not worth being out of pocket by £325.

980ti -> 1070 is a complete waste of time and money, the sort of move only insane people like Easyrider or Boom would do just so they can post a pic in the owners club thread :p

I am circling already :p

Me too, £200 980ti and I'll bite, got a mate who wanted one and was willing to pay up to £285 (too much imo) anyway, he's seen sense of sorts and preordered a 1070.

The MM is making me smile at the moment, if sellers want high prices for their 980ti's I can't think of a worse place (price wise) to get it, plenty more suckers in flea bay!

Starting to wish I'd dumped my 980ti just before the 1080/1070 hit.

Why

It has the same performance as the 1070 and is only 20% behind the 1080

Don't get caught up with the must have what's shiniest and newest brigade. Does your card play everything you throw at it maxed out? Yes? Well what's the problem?

Edit: On second thoughts, you really need to put your 980ti on the MM for £200 and buy a 1080 :D

tell your mate to buy one right now because in a few weeks prices will go back up and stabilize as they do.

a 980ti is still the second fastest GPU today when overclocked.

some people make me laugh on this forums expecting £200 980tis, I say goodluck to you guys and we don't need to hear it in every post because its likely you'll pay £200 in over a year from now

I must been living under a rock... What is this MM you guys keep mentioning?

How about me then? :D
Anyway, 980Ti will see a nice drop again on secondhand market. Lot of users will let it go for 200-240. The fun only begins .

I've got a pair of them, and you expect I would sell them for £400 and what? Stick another £200 odd quid to the fund for a downgrade in the 1080?

:D:D

On topic I preordered the 1080 Strix but I am being tempted by cancelling the order and trying for a sensibly priced 2nd hand 980ti to replace my current 780ti (which is starting to show its age)

After two weeks hanging and no actual idea of when the orders will be fulfilled I am having a serious case of buyers remorse.

Yeah people currently have their second hand 980ti on eBay for the exact same models that ocuk are currently selling for 399 to 419 and people want any over 400 for them and they are selling!

Agreed. 200 is too little. I expect decent spec 980ti to be 300 second hand.

Even the 780 Ti still goes for around £200 on Fleabay. No chance of the 980 Ti hitting that number any time soon. I can see under £300 for used ones soon enough though.
