The EU Referendum: Polling Day

Surely it looks like she's OUT of the polling station, as she's on the outside of the doors...

There really shouldn't be anyone handing out bias right before someone votes...

Should throw out the stations vote as a solution tbh, same should be true of Anti-EU leaflets and same situation.

it doesn't matter it's in the proximity.
but it's a labour activist so shouldn't be surprised.

I was more highlighting scorza's continued bending of the truth which has frequented these EU threads in recent months :)

As a non-Labour voter within Tower Hamlets I fully concur that she should be nowhere near a polling station, outside or in.

In or out it doesn't matter, apparently she shouldn't be campaigning within 250m of a polling station. Source.

Offence of campaigning within a prescribed area

(1)

It shall be an offence to engage in campaigning activity within a prescribed

area around a polling station on the day of a relevant election at any time

during the period in which the polling station is open.

(2)

In this Act, “campaigning activity” means—

(a)

the promotion or distribution of any literature associated with election

candidates, political parties or associated organisations;

...

(3)

The “prescribed area” referred to in subsection (1) shall be an area represented

by a circle with a radius of 250 metres from the main entrance of a polling

station.

Anyway, turnout in Tower Hamlets is expected to be high, with some pundits predicting 150% of the electorate will vote!

im so gutted i couldnt vote.

i applied for a postal vote a month ago and they never sent me the post vote to me in time before i flew to peru last week for a holiday.

i am appalled by the service of this as i wanted to vote in

You could have applied for a proxy vote or even an emergency proxy vote...

Shame that

Brilliant, so why did you capitalise IN?

I still think she's in the polling station - I could argue the toss but what would be the point? Better to avoid pedantic legal debates about what in and out actually mean.

One thing I don't get though is that plod is right there - why didn't they tell her to stop breaking the law? We've seen the police intervene in other parts of the country to stop pens being handed out (thus furthering the conspiracy theory).

Car parked near my local polling station with Vote UKIP banners in the window, what a complete Herbert, it's a referendum not political election!

And last night the number of drivers discussing this whilst I unloaded at Tesco's distribution centre in Purfleet, Essex, quite a few were "I'm voting out, **** Cameron" - they seemed bemused when I pointed out all of the political parties with the exception of UKIP & the BNP support remain!

I fear this is a monumental vote but many taking part are voting for all the wrong reasons....

No idea what he's doing - the policing and regulation of polling stations in Tower Hamlets isn't exactly at the top of anyone's list unfortunately.
