Actually, that's exactly what democracy is - the will of the majority. The problem comes where the losing side does not consider that the winning side is smart enough to have made the decision for them...
On the news this morning, they interviewed some leave supporters and they actually seemed dumbfounded that their 'side' won. One was talking about how they were now really worried, one about how they didn't think their vote would actually count for so much and one even hoping Cameron could still get re-elected!

No man, I have little faith in the reasoning skills of the average voter. And if you dont think a bit(or a good bit) of xenophobia in all this went a long way, then you're being naive.

This seems to be a theme.

I just hope that only a small minority were people that voted leave as part of a warning to the system and didn't really want it.

I wanted to leave but it felt like a dream. It's such a big step that I weren't convinced that the greater public would have the stones to go ahead and pull the trigger... and they certainly did. It's a very courageous thing to do.

At the most I was expecting 46-48% exit with the EU being pressured into reforms as a result, but a full-blown exit will do.

I read this morning that the price of brent crude had dropped 5%+ back to february levels, so short term we should get slightly cheaper fuel.

No it's not, its around 49-50 now in February it was consistently below 40.

Our exchange rate has gone way down, oil is traded in dollars so it will go up in the short term.

£ is down, stocks in the company i work for (large uk bank) down 25%

dark days... that's what happens when you let the unemployed and retired vote :D

And?

Profits to be made, tons of shorting to do off short term speculation. The falls being compared to recession are hilarious, they were happening daily during 2008 of anywhere from 3-8% whilst we melted down.

Markets are not an indication in this sense of our "doom and gloom", just showing that fear makes money. If it keeps falling for a week or so, sure I'll start becoming more worried.

I'm sad that most of the arguments/propaganda has been around "immigrants", that shouldn't have been the leave argument at all... it's cheap and plays on fear no better than trump.

I voted leave, because I have the belief as a nation we have the human capital to lead what I see as a mini revolution. The whole purpose of this is a demonstration that the EU cannot just threaten countries and say "tough".

Other countries now talking of referendums will be striking fear into the EU and most likely trigger relaxation of the previous stance, if it doesn't then I would be heavily surprised.

Exciting times ahead :)

(won't respond to any replies... cba to become engaged in hate debate!)

Not "whole heartedly" though from what I've seen and heard. Early in the evening things were looking up, followed by some dramatic slides throughout the night as the outcome became clearer. I think the markets really didn't expect a leave, but priced in only a small probability.

It was for a while. A few days before the referendum it started to pick up sharply and would no doubt have gone a fair bit higher on a remain vote. Now we are back to the rubbish rates it was in the months leading up to it, or even lower and I very much doubt they will improve.

The country has made itself poorer, at least in the short term.

Indeed any drop in crude oil is being completely eaten up by weakening of the £.

Not sure if I'm horrified or amused. Probably a bit of both

Hahaha

Well despite all efforts of scaremongering, threats, bullying, warnings, invasions, torture and the use of an MPs killing as tools to influence the electorate the people saw through all the lies of the remain campaign.

Good luck to Britain, now we have our sovereignty back and we say hello to the world

Hear, hear. Actually several people I know were for remain until the vultures descended on the murdered politician Jo Cox and tried to force the "Britain First" meme for their own political gain. Disgusting.

Nope. Most of the leave voters seriously thought that the other side would win a close vote. They were still desperate to leave with their own reasons.

I'm REALLY HAPPY now!

This is a great day for Great Britain!

Arise Sir. Nigel Farage!!

With trump at the golf course in Scotland and Britain leaving the eu the new world order could engineer a nuclear attack and wipe out the uk and trump in one hit. Game back on then for NWO.

Or is that a bit deus ex ?
