Brexit thread - what happens next

Two big negatives for me that come to light were the complete lack of interest of the younger generation. I know a lot did vote but a lot didn't, it's worrying for the future that these people refuse to take an interest in how the country is running. The only thing that matters to them is their fake tan and if they can still got out and get ridiculously drunk on the weekends. The second which someone else pointed out is that racism is still very much here. One phrase on my facebook was 'finally we can get rid of all the terrorists' I think this right wing 'hate the foreigners' will now die down now, and hopefully we can move on from it.

I understand this, but how involved in voting and politics were we (here) when we were 18-21?

I think I started taking a real interest in my early to mid 20's.

calling skinheads who put up a racist poster idiots is bigotry? They hardly constitute a group of people to the point where you'd be bigoted to make a generalisation about them, there were about 5 of them!

Nope, but many people are going much further, calling all Leavers racists/bigots/xenophobes/idiots.

If this whole palaver has taught me anything, it's that I'm actually a centrist. Some things I am very liberal on, and others pretty conservative, but the militant left and SJWs and the like do my bloody head in, and it doesn't matter which side of the political spectrum people sit, there will always be a bunch of massive *******s there making you look bad.

Easy to say 'they're just a minority' if you are white and not European.

If you are, it's entirely understandable to be worried and concerned for your safety in the UK after the reports that are coming in from the last two days. And that is disgusting and something the UK should be ashamed of.

What reports are these? Whilst not a TV news junkie I do try to read a fairly broad spectrum of news papers and can't say I have seen anything about attacks on foreigners?

But we will have no say in the laws that EU passes which if Norway is an example, we have to adopt 75% of them and it will really be like they are telling us what to do. Whereas before we might get outvoted but at least we had a say before.

Oh I agree with you. All the downside without any of the positive side as far as laws goes.

They only things we would avoid would be things like the EU Army.

Why would they use London when it's not in the EU and has no ability to deal fully within the EU?

They don't have the links and would likely have to renegotiate there own terms. Germany/Paris are not anywhere near close to having the sort of access London does.

Its very easy to say headquarters would move but that will take years, by which point who knows where the EU will be.

As much as its a loss for us to be out of the EU its also a massive loss to the EU to loose one of its biggest contributors.

.

I haven't seen one person say that.

show a post with All in the same sentence as idiots.

just because some including me have said leavers are idiots, does not mean we think all are. just in general.

It may have been asked already, but what does "taking back Britain" mean? Or "taking back our country"? A few of my friends have said this and I don't know what they mean. :o

I genuinely don't understand that expression in this context. If it has been answered I apologise, and if you can point me to the post I should be most grateful.

There's a lot of unsettling and worrying stuff all over social media - and it doesn't seem to be limited to certain areas. It seems that some of the mouth breathing idiots that assumed 'take our country back' meant 'be openly racist, we're deporting everyone that's not 3rd generation British and it doesn't matter how you treat them' are doing just that.

From the link
"Tuesday a plan to broaden European defense and security cooperation, in a bid to bolster Europe’s ability to act independently"

Us leavers knew it was coming.

Except Britain already has an opt out of future EU integration. It would not affect the UK unless we wanted it to. You leavers forgot about our opt out.

People really need to get a grip and stop blaming, claiming and complaining. It's done, the decision has been made, it's time to move on and work together and see it through.
I feel like this monumentally overlooks the magnitude of what just happened.

To just suck it up and move on seems like a delusionally calm response.

Hardly delusional, its the only rational decision. We voted out, we're heading out, the world hasn't ended, lets make the best of it.

Its from Rueters no sorry I mean Facebook. :D

The real hate and division is coming from Remain voters as can be seen on here.

Quite...

Hatred and telling it how it is are two very different things.

Has this really just started happening though or has it always been happening but now every single case is being linked to the vote by remainers?
