Nothing else is like that. You can't change the US constitution with 51% of the vote.

Yep... It is utterly bonkers...

and how does he plan for brexit with the EU / EC while at the same time trying to negotiate a better deal to stay. It's simply not possible and would in no way have been entertained by any of the EU member states.

Cameron cut his cloth accordingly, he was spearheading the remain campaign and thus his plans were around ensuring the best UK position possible within the EU moving forward.

This isn't like drawing up a plan for my holiday where if the flight is cancelled I have a plan B to go to bognor regis.

Whoa, very naive. Exit and contingency strategies exist for a multitude of scenarios, just as EU have exit strategy for member states in article 50 the government will have clear indication of steps that need to be taken to exit. Implementation will follow the given framework, outcomes will depend upon negotiations within the framework. An example is the BOE clearly had a process that was followed once the result was announced by making funds available to assist with stability in the immediate aftermath

Personally, I won't be doing so. I linked it as comment on what is going on.

If you want to, google "advice on writing to your MP". Letters are usually more effective than e-mails; keep it short and to the point; don't use a form letter; and keep it polite and respectful.

Treat it as an exercise in letter construction, don't for one moment think the referendum will be overthrown though :)

As my MP is Owen Patterson and the staunchest of protagonists for Leave I doubt he'll be receiving many such tomes!

I think it really bad it was a binary vote - talked to so many people who would have voted "I don't feel qualified to vote one way or another" or "I don't feel either represent my views".

And we keep getting told that the "will of the people" has been done and to shut up. Beggars belief really.

Tim Farron just asked DC where Boris is hiding :D

This is a very good PMQ actually.
Yes, quite entertaining as well as informative.

Lol. The only plan being discussed is about staying in the single market, seem only thing both sides agree on. Of course shock, horror, basically EU - the perks :p

Will this PMQ be available to re-watch after it has run? I may sit down and skip through it when I get home if so.

Just add it to the broken ways of voting this country has.

That could either be good or bad... It could help us to remain in, or it could mean that we end up out, and without scotland...

Scotland have already been told that they would need to Reapply and go through the entire EU joining process.

Our EU membership is for the United Kingdom, not the individual countries within it. Thus if Westminster decide to leave, then scotland is out. If scotland leaves the UK, they are out. Scotland is out either way unless parliament do not follow through with the wishes of the people from the result of the referendum.

I understand that, but you can't then say people can't protest that decision ?

Never said that. But there surely comes a time when you need to accept the majority has spoken. Democracy is not about "blocking" decisions made democratically until you get your desired outcome. That's abuse.

The wishes of the 52%... I don't think it is right to say the wishes of the people when very nearly half the country is against the decision. Quite possibly more now this fallout has started.

Before the vote took place many on the leave side had already begun complaining in advance of not winning - everything from moaning about pencils to claiming there would be fraud. Even Farage said 48/52 would be unfinished business.

There was no chance the more vocal on here would have said never mind and left it at that if the result was the opposite so it's hilarious to see some of their responses now.
