I would lose my head if that sour faced bitch got the job.

Then again it would probably be political suicide for anyone who gets it.

I can't see who else they can choose. With Boris and May you have the one M.P who is looked upon as a hero and another who is probably the most respected by the Tory member's.

Personally I want Boris as the next PM but as someone who wants a Conservative government beyond 2020 I think May might just be the better candidate to put the party together with her no nonsense approach.

So long as it's not Gove, I don't really care.

IMO I don't think Grove sees Grove as the next Prime Minister however he could be the king maker and be inline for a top job such as Foreign secure, Chancellor or Deputy PM.

Was it Mail on Sunday that did some questionable polling magic to arrive at 53% for May 47% for Bo, should they ever go head-to-handbag? Too late to check now. But it's increasingly looking like Bo/Gove, May/George, Randomer/Randomer for the whittling down, and then Bo v May in the finals, unless the Randomer can take out Bo. It's going to be another shambles, and someone is suggesting dragging the whole thing out till November! Are they for real? What's Cameron meant to do, disconnect his EU line and dodge the Council for several months to avoid triggering Article 50? Silly business.

The news was saying this morning that May is now the favourite candidate?

According to a YouGov poll for the Times, Home Secretary Theresa May is favoured by 31% of Conservative voters to become the next leader, against 24% for Mr Johnson.

Remember that there's three years until the next election. Plenty of time for the new Tory leader to sort things out.

Johnson isn't a particularly good manager, but he is a leader, and if he appoints a good cabinet, he could do well.

Gove has ruled himself out.

Javid would be an interesting choice.

Assuming of course that a general election is indeed that far away. There are the potential for elections much sooner.

Not really. It would require a 2/3 majority of the Commons to overcome the Fixed Term Act, and neither the Tories nor Labour are suicidal. Remember that there was no election after Gordon Brown became PM, nor Callaghan, nor Major.

We shall wait and see on that one.

I do not like May for her views on a lot of the 'snooping' legislation, rather ill-thought and unenforceable IMO. However she is a very competent politician who can rally a lot of support, a bit less marmite than Boris. When we will possibly have Clinton, Merkel and May what could go wrong putting her in charge.

The trouble with Boris is, sadly for his supporters, he never was a team player within the Tory party. Their grandees are also very tactical beasts. And just because most of the membership backed Brexit, this does not by default mean that more than 50% of them support Boris for PM.

Only if the incoming Conservative leader wanted to call one. Bear in mind that the tory majority is incredibly slim, and some of their MPs are going to be extremely disappointed no matter who wins. Labour could probably quite easily push for a no confidence vote which would only require a simple majority. That is, if their MPs actually decide to work with their own party...

I think Jacob Rees Mogg is not quite there yet, he's a bit Boris esque can definitely warm to the left :)

Has some balls walking around South Shields also.

Theresa May is now the favourite. God save us.

I'd go for Boris as PM with Gove as chancellor and Reece Mog for the foreign office.
