If the Conservatives vote in a candidate that was campaigning for Remain - I see no reason why Cameron quit...

Still can't believe Boris has bottled it, at least he would have some credibility for standing up for his agenda/beliefs.

He didn't technically bottle it as such, he was stabbed in the back and it was made abundantly clear to him there wasn't the support he needed. It also now appears obvious from the leaked email that yet again Murdoch's prints are all over this.

Labour have never been less electable, I think the Lib deme would knock them into third or fourth after UKIP were we to have an election tomorrow.

Labour have consistently polled over 30 in the polls. There is zero prospect of them coming anything other than first or second.

What leaked email? I think I must have missed this!

Because all those polls are so accurate of late....

Labour is in a mess. I live in Labour heartland - Even life long labour voters up here are starting to finally dis-engage with them.

They would not stand a chance right now. And rightly so.

Gove - I told you so (Times):

“I don’t want to be prime minister. Having seen close up how he [David Cameron] does the job, I know that I couldn’t do it. All sorts of politicians get asked these questions. Everyone tries to look at those denials and say was he leaving open the door, or was she trying to suggest she might wriggle out of it at some point . . . I don’t know what I can do, in a way, but if anyone wants me to sign a piece of parchment in my own blood saying I don’t want to be prime minister, then I’m perfectly happy to do that.” Sky News, August 2012

“I am an inconceivable choice as party leader. I don’t want to do it; I wouldn’t do it; it wouldn’t matter how many people asked me to do it — I don’t think there would be very many.” The Sunday Times, September 2013

“I don’t have what it takes . . . I have seen David close up on a variety of occasions: he just has an equanimity and a stamina, a sense of calm, good judgment . . . The pressure of the job is phenomenal and it takes a toll on you and your family.” The Financial Times, March 2014

“I don’t want to do it and there are people who are far better equipped than me to do it. And there are people who have advocated Leave and people who have advocated Remain who are far better than me to do it.” The Daily Telegraph, May 2016

“I don’t think I have got that exceptional level of ability required to do the job.” The Daily Telegraph, June 2016

“The one thing I can tell you is there are lots of talented people who could be prime minister after David Cameron, but count me out.” Sky News, June 2016

So why have you applied for the job... :p

Polls prior to this weeks **** storm, I doubt they will be polling 30% now.

First in a GE? just LOL! Corbyn makes Ed Milliband look prime ministerial which is in itself an absurd notion.

We're there a snap election tomorrow, he couldn't even from a shadow cabinet such is the total lack of support within the PLP for him, he's an embarrassment to the great and principled movement that is the Labour party (much as I don't support it, I do - did - respect it) he is unelectable and the left of Labour's grass roots need to wake up to the fact, that said, they've been in this position before with Michael Foot and have,it appears, learned nothing from that experience.

I'm sorry but the stagent cycle of British politics demands the other side win now. People are bored of austerity. It doesn't even matter if it makes sense. Labour will win or it will be a minefield of crappy right wing protest votes and fringe party maniacs.

Well Boris being called a **** has never truly been called a **** until he was called a spineless **** by a man with a Scottish accent and venomous tone. Good work Obi-wan.

I don't think I have ever heard a public figure launch such a scathing attack on another public figure as the onslaught from Michael Heseltine today on BJ. Have a LISTEN

The chief cheer leader for calls for the referendum result to be ignored and for parliament to kick the public's decision into the grass...accussing someone else of creating a constitutional crisis

Heseltine has been the poster boy for butthurt Remainers since the result, acting with all the decorum of a drunk teenage girl who's just been dumped at the school disco.

I'd rather see anyone or anything in charge of this country other than another chuffing Tory. Haven't they screwed this country up enough? Thatcher with privatisation, Cameron with the EU and now what? Someone to try and lead us back to British Imperialism?

It utterly baffles me to think that anyone is still voting blue.

And that right there is the "Great British Swindle". To be considered able to be Prime Minister you have to "look" Prime Ministerial. Forget politics. Forget policies. Forget substance and what you believe in. You have to look Prime Ministerial.

What does Prime Ministerial look like? Suave. At least a bit pompous. Rich. Able to lie through your teeth without laughing or sweating. Have the media champion you (which means you probably show them some favouritism and probably right-leaning but certainly no more left than a centrist politician).

The look should be unimportant. It should be about the substance, policies and politics?
