What film did you watch last night?

Just watched The Revenant again, enjoyed it much more alone without all the family watching it with me moaning all the way through. Great film imo.

The Walk.

Film about Philippe Petits high wire walk across the twin towers. Very good film. Great performance from joseph gordon levitt, quite amusing and had some really inspiring moments. Some of the walk scenes were so real they were nearly nauseating. I think I would have had a funny turn if I had watched it in imax. Can see why the critics loved it. Easy 8/10. It's on Sky Cinema.

All the way through it though I was just thinking...........

I agree, but NASA would cringe :D

I think they fully endorsed it! Sure they took some liberties but I think most of it is fairly grounded in what we're capable of today.

The only real science liberty I'm aware of is that a storm on Mars, because of it's atmosphere, wouldn't be anywhere near so powerful.

Not sure why the need to knock a movie that's at least trying to be a bit more based in real world physics?! Same for mavity. There's always going to have to be some sort of suspension of disbelief (like how an action star can dodge a hail of gun fire in a normal movie).

The Green Room

Claustrophobic film about a punk band who play a gig at a white supremacisits venue and end up fighting for their lives. Not awesome but worth a watch.

The Big Short - 9/10 film Brilliant film very entertaining and educational at times ;)
Quality film!

Jason Bourne (premiere) - 8/10 :D
Can't wait to see this.

**************
The Nice Guys - 8/10.

Really really epic. Everyone should watch it, funny and a good story. I remember being 60 mins in and thinking that so much had happened already. Excellent!

Tonight I watched...

Pride and Glory

A family's moral codes are tested when Ray Tierney investigates a case that reveals an incendiary police corruption scandal involving his own brother-in-law. For Ray, the truth is revelatory, a Pandora's Box that threatens to upend not only the Tierney legacy but the entire NYPD.

Was quite decent, give it a solid 7/10

The Secret of My Success - Haven't seen this for an utter age. It's extra cheesy watching it now, but I still like it - 7/10

Loved this film back in the day - especially the bedroom swapping bit to the tune of Yello's 'Oh Yeah'. That and I had a massive crush on Helen Slater (Super Girl).

Focus - Will Smith and Margot Robbie

7/10

I dunno, I kinda enjoyed it, it was slow in places. I guess I expected more with it being Will Smith, not that he wasn't good (he was). Maybe like the first time I watched Fight Club or The Usual Suspects and was like :eek: at the endings.

Rushed through Cloverfield lane, was looking forward to it, had no idea what it was all about, not that impressed though, not my kind of film. Also watched Bridge of Spies, again not the best.

In the heart of the sea.

Not bad. As always a good performance from Brendan Gleeson, Michelle Fairley also noteworthy. Didn't like the other main character called Chase. Just seemed too egotistical and Hemsworth played him like some kind of chip on the shoulder superiority complex maniac. A reasonable watch though. I think the scenes involving Gleeson, Fairley and the other guy were easily the standout parts of the film. 6.5/10

Just finished watching "Son of Saul" a Hungarian film about a man working in the Sonderkommando in Auschwitz. It got a good review on the BBC by Mark Kermode and so I thought it was worth a watch. The way it is shot takes a bit of getting used to,it's sort of over the shoulder of the main character, but once you get into it you get a feel of the horror that is going on around him whilst he tries to achieve his aim of giving his son a decent burial. Maybe not to everyone's taste but an impressive film all the same.
