It didn't need to be clarified. The guy was injured in the incident, regardless of the rag's narrative on the subject, that part is true.

Indeed. I'm not aware of the viral marketing, but clown scare pranks have been on Youtube for years. The teens just decided to pinpoint the year 2016 to spread the prank.
