Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [14th - 19th October 2016]

It's a bit more of a game now... Traore already showing he's got the beating of their fullback.

Horrendous once again. Zero clearcut chances created. Karanka either has to learn how to adapt and change the system from the start or in game or he has to go.

Looks completely out of his depth.

Broken the barrier at last, 3 in relatively quick succession now. Could do with Austin getting a few more for my fantasy points!

His comments seemed unnecessary to say the least.

Going to be an interesting game, I'm not confident but form often counts for little in these games.

The aren't unnecessary they are what Mourinho does. These comments potentially achieves two goals for him. First is if a referee feels under pressure to not be seen as unfair to Utd he might give a soft decision for say a penalty that he otherwise wouldn't give, he's trying to influence the game. Second goal is, if they lose he has pre-established that he thinks the ref could be an issue. Lose the game and he'll absolutely highlight every single ref mistake, blame the ref for killing their momentum or changing the direction of the game.

Mourinho does this all the time, pressures refs and sets himself up with excuses, because this is another big game. They've looked pretty poor in the bigger games so far, Liverpool is a huge game and losing it would look pretty bad in terms of his supposed ability to come in and make the team so much better.

Maybe he gets a 100k fine, more likely a 10k fine, so what. It's trivial money to him, particularly if he can blame a terrible result on someone else.

As DM says, he knows exactly what he's doing and he's happy to take a fine for it.

I don't believe refs are bias however they're human and the fuss that's been made about him being from Manchester could have possible made him think twice about giving decisions in favour of Utd. Mourinho knows that too and his comment about it being difficult for him to have a good game is referring to decisions for Utd - he's putting pressure back on Taylor to not be scared to award decisions Utd's way.

The decision to give Taylor the game was stupid, again not because I think he's bias but this is the highest profile game in England and any small detail will get blown out of proportion and whatever decision he makes will be questioned and more importantly, he'll know it going into the game. If he gives a big decision to Utd it will be because he's from Manchester and if he gives one to Liverpool it will be because he didn't want to be seen as being bias.

pathetic from mourinho. klopp is a progressive manager, mourinho has to resort to mind games off the pitch and hum drum tactics. hope liverpool take them to the cleaners.

Klopp confirmed Lallana,Winaldum maybe fit to start, i think if there is any risk we would be fine though as Can could fit in easily.

Mane / Firminho our best 2 players at the moment so be fun (hope) to see them destroy UTD :)

Only worry is Mourinho may just tell UTD to lump it up or play for corners / set pieces of which we suck at defending.

Zlatan is going to need to be on form and not miss chances like he did against Stoke. He's good enough to take the Liverpool defence apart on his own.

Expecting to see Herrera (outside chance of Fellaini) and Pogba behind Rashford/Mata/Martial (unless Mkhitaryan is fit) in midfield. I think the risk is that Liverpool could easily play through Pogba and Herrera, but Mourinho doesn't seem to rate Carrick or Schneiderlin...

Going to be interesting, we have to be up for it and can't be headless chickens in the first half like we were against City.

He missed a reasonable chance (for him at least) vs City also

I have a horrible feeling Fellaini will be used for his physicality in midfield (even if it means any chance of actual midfield control will go right out the window)

I want to see Mkhi play, but Im not sure the Anfield atmosphere is a good intro (given the disaster of the 1st half vs City from his point of view)

Would actually use a midfield 3 of Carrick , Herrera and Pogba with the latter given the licence to roam freely / push up (with Mata or Rashford to not start) - but Im not sure JM will and it will be Fellaini + Pogba and your choice of attack

Utd have a good chance of getting a result, even with nearly all the media giving the home side "favourites" tag (even though we have won the last 3 PL visits(?) , even while being ~identity-less~)

Really have to start on the front foot and be energetic all the way through the team, otherwise we will be obliterated - may well be a very end to end type game
