*** The Elder Scrolls 5 - Skyrim Official Thread ***

I have never played this....but i want to dabble.

Now, I hear that you can create your own character which you can choose what class and playing style you want from the start. The problem is that once it is picked you can't change unless you start again.

I worry that I wouldn't know until it is too late, could someone do a brief break down of pros and cons of the character classes?

The character classes themselves don't seem to be fixed - all you're doing is allocating a few more skill points but you can easily rectify this by levelling up and putting the point where you choose. The only thing you can't change afterwards is the character race which gives you special powers. They are all described during the character choice screen though.

e.g. Even though I've picked an archer, I'm still able to use fire spells and a sword for close combat.

What I should add is that your skills are determined by the character race. So the high elf is a good archer and will receive more points in archery skill. But I can still become a mage if I wanted, I'll just have to level up a bit to get to the starting skill value as the dark elf mage would have initially. Sorry for the waffle.

I played this a lot on the PS3, what's the losing times like on the PS4?

Interested in playing it again as a different class.

I didn't know you could choose. But I love the dragons anyway so would keep them in.

If you don't trigger the main storyline, the dragons never turn up. That's the only way to not have them present.

Alternative Start Mod which is available on consoles and PC will allow you to start the game in various other situations(Away from the default start), and 1 of the quest markers asks you to investigate helgen. If you don't. No Dragons!

Same as if you don't follow the initial quest of informing the Jarl of Whiterun of the event I'll not mention, Dragons won't be triggered again.

Interesting. Can you still collect
dragon shouts
if you don't do the main quest? You won't have any dragon souls to use?

You can't do dragonshouts as they are triggered as part of the main quest line.

But the game is open world, there are 100s of side quests you can do, plus you can do the DLC quests and gain other powers(Outside of dovahkiin powers)
