I thought the bird that puts on a stage dance a few seasons ago was cgi. I researched it and it wasn't. I don't think anything here was cgi either. I did think the first snake chasing the iguana looked fake. I think that was because it looked surreal.
I didn't see any pack mentality in the snakes. I saw a bunch if opportunistic individuals taking pot shots.
Probably just the style of the cinematography. It looks like it's been filmed with HD/UHD firmly in mind, with a slight over-saturation, maybe some filter to make it pop on screen.
I'm quite impressed that they managed to make it look even more spectacular than Planet Earth 1 and Blue Planet. They've taken the next step in the cinematography. It's not often I see a nature documentary nowadays and think "I haven't seen that filmed before", but there was loads of it in the first episode.
And of course the icing on the cake is the Attenborough voice-over. He'd better live for ever, because I don't know what we're going to do without him. It's the sort of thing no one does like the BBC, as it's not at all sentimental like the US nature documentaries. In short the first episode wasn't just brilliant, but epic.
Fantastic start. No way on earth () could a commercial station produce something like this. Anyone who says the BBC should be commercially supported should watch this.
