What on Earth have they done?

The cost of ingredients rising,Nonsense..its just greed lets be honest,Jumping on the "Brexit" bandwagon...but we will deny this is the reason.

Its okay saying "why didn't they just shorten the bars"..but your still getting less!,At what point will "just shorten the bars" be acceptable?

At this rate in 2025 we will be paying £5 for 1 chocolate botton. :D

Crisps and Fish Fingers next (Times):

A Walkers spokesman confirmed that the 32g standard bag would increase from 50p to 55p, while the larger grab bag would go from 75p to 80p. “Since we do not set the retail price of our products, it will be for individual retailers to determine the impact on the price at which they sell our products,” the spokesman said.

Birds Eye, the makers of fish fingers and chicken nuggets, said that prices could rise by up to 12 per cent.
The company is said to be discussing plans with supermarkets to increase the price of popular products, such as frozen peas, or to shrink pack sizes, such as reducing the numbers of fish fingers in a pack from 12 to 10.

“Many of our raw materials are priced in dollars and the fall in the value of the pound since the EU referendum has meant that our costs in sterling have risen,” said a spokeman for Birds Eye, which is owned by US group Nomad Foods.

Better stock up now... :p

They now look like reject bars :p

Why didn't they just shorten the length of the bar?

Surely who ever suggested this and gave the go ahead can't still be working there.

cost, same packaging, same machines etc. especially as its only uk market. very cheap alteraton for them, unlike changing say the length, which would need multiple machines changing.

its stupid that companies are hiding the fact its due to brexit due to %%%% papers who have no interest in decency or democracy.

It is not nonsense. If the pound is worth less, then selling it for the same amount now would mean they make less.

Over time the cost of labour, ingredients and general day to day running of a business increases due to inflation.

How can you expect a chocolate bar to cost the same today as it did 15/20 years ago?

That would be unreasonable.

Now that is without discussing Brexit. Foreign imports have seen price rises since the drop in the pound. You can call it greed but if you buy ingredients in euros and the price hike reflects the inflation, it is hardly greed.

Dont like it, dont buy it. I dont understand how people can feel bitter about things like this. Just seems self entitled.

Whilst I agree it's not nonsense, play it the other way for a second, if the pound had been worth massively more (or indeed if it ever recovers), will we see a price drop on these type of goods? Unlikely

No way would there be a drop. I'm not going to lose sleep by paying an extra 5p for a bag of crisps anyway. Shop savvy. Wait until multipacks are on rollback in Asda, stock up and eat two bags at once.

Usually when it favours the company for a significant period of time, they tend to keep the RRP the same and introduce more tempting promotional prices.

So although it does not work the other way down, it is no surprise that a company will make as much as they can without losing customers.

Frijj covertly dropped the volume from 500ml to 471ml (sometime this year?), plus haven't Mars and Snickers dropped in weight?

So will we get our proper weight Toblerone bars back if Poundland renames to £1-10land?;)

Or we need to go back to the 90s, replacing booze-cruises with Toblerone-cruises?;)

Thing is in most supermarkets its more than a pound anyway, its £1.50 in Sainsburys.

Doubt people would have noticed or been bothered if it was now £1.65.

They should have just shrunk the whole bar. This looks awful...

Done you can buy your post Brexit bars from me for £2.
