PlayStation 4 Pro in-bound

Ratchet and Clank. 4k and HDR... oh my... this is the future..

I completely forgot I bought Ratchet and Clank back in June, I was digging out Shadow of Mordor and came across it still sealed up!

Just had a 30 minute bash, god damn, yes.. it looks absolutely stunning, actually, jaw dropping in 4K and HDR. Just.. wow.

yeah ratchet andd clank awesome game, been playing it last night :D

OLED + 4k + RATCHET + HDR = AWESOMENESS looks utterly AWESOME did i say AWESOME to much lol

Is it already patched then?

I know what you are saying about PC gaming. I can't see me spending thousands on top cpu's, GPU's and monitors anymore.

We have hit the point finally where fantastic performance has become cheap enough to severely narrow the gap to almost unnoticeable levels between a £300 console and a £1200 PC. And also TV's have become amazing, even at a budget. I think PC gaming might really start to struggle soon.

The line up of games this and next year smashes the PC lineup as well.

Please explain further rather than just, no.

A £1200 PC will out perform a £300 console on ANY multiplatform game. Period. The detail levels and resolutions achievable with a PC overshadow the console by a mile. Take any multiplatform game and play it simultaneously on a PC and console next to eachother, I guarantee the PC will look better. Whats more is the user can decide to play with a keyboard and mouse or the exact same controller the console uses.

Im not flaming consoles, I own them myself but they are purely used for the exclusive games, for an example the upcoming Last Guardian on PS4. Everything else I play on PC. I even have the TV connected to the PC so I can enjoy the graphics from the PC on my TV with a controller.

The simple maths tells you a console under your telly for 300 quid will not be as powerful as a 1200 quid PC.

Remember consoles are designed and made on 'out dated' tech like the GPU and CPU, how else do they make a console and sell it so cheap!?!

PC is as good as the software and tbh games are far better optimised for consoles. Watchdogs 2 is meant to run like a dog on PC but nicely on PS4 Pro. For a £300 box it's doing a far better job than most predicted tbh......

I'm very impressed.

Thats because the PC gets left out in the cold compared to consoles when it comes to optimisation for one reason only...money. Consoles is where the devs make their money, just look at how many botched releases have come to the PC in recent times. The PC is more than capable of running the game but devs - or many devs - do not or can not put enough time into optimisation for PC pre release.

Something like the Witcher 3 is an exception but the dev has a history of putting the effort into the PC release as well as the consoles.

Its normally left to the PC modding community to sort games out ourselves.

Loving UC4 on the Pro at the mo. I thought I would get it, play the exclusives and sell it for a Scorpio but I have a feeling I will end up keeping it now.

So ultimately it doesn't though due to poor optimization. Potential and what is actually provided is very different in PC world. I have been a PC gamer since the 90's but consoles feel like they provide more bang for buck with performance very close to PC's costing 3x more.

I prefer the open nature and options of PC gaming which you don't get with consoles.

Couldn't resist though and just traded in my PS4 for a Pro today:D so looking forward to seeing what it can do

What deal did you get on a trade in?

I used to solely play PC games up until about 7 years ago, before that I never owned a console. Nowadays consoles are just so much easier and convenient. No faffing with upgrades, drivers, software issues etc, plus socially all my friends own a PS4 so...

I did the GAME trade in offering a Pro at £175, if you trade in a PS4 plus 5 games.

Picked up five cheap games from CEX for about £23 quid and used them on the deal.

Think the deal also added £8 quid credit to my GAME account too

I've been dicking around in my head as to whether I need this or not. Don't have a 4k TV yet and rarely turn on my PS4 but you know, shiny.

Unless your PS4 gets used a lot I would say no point in upgrading. I'm looking out for a 4K tv in the black friday deals. Might even wait for the 2017 models as it appears you need to go quite highend for a decent gaming tv with 4K and HDR.

My 2 cents so far...

The console feels and looks like real quality compared to the original PS4, I was surprised, For me the PS4 has not got the build quality of any of the PS3s except the last PS3 that came out. The Playstation 4 Pro is the best made Sony console yet.

Just to mention my TV. It's a mid range Sony 4k 65" which is great for gaming, but does not have HDR.

Games tested:

1) Skyrim. Immediately noticed the difference, you won't find a better platform to play the game on, imo. I have not had any FPS drops even though I have an extreme weather mod, nothing slowed down. Very impressed and happy, since this was the main reason to purchase, well until I played other games...

2) Witcher 3. This is a surprise. It is super smooth, the effects like trees blowing seems more vivid, the colours are fantastic, again, PC Ultra quality and super smooth. Surprised me.

3) Last of Us. Blew me away to be honest, to think a PS3 ran this... Solid FPS, INCREDIBLE detail. The intro I could see the fabric of Joels and his daughters clothing, it is unreal. I'm looking forward to completing this again.

In short, blew me away. A complete steal at £350. To think that it is actually better then what I've experienced when played on a HDR TV(Last of Us in particular) boggles my mind.

Will be doing VR games next week, RIGS and Eve, and Worlds. If you've got a 4K TV and a PS4, do yourself a favour and upgrade. If you haven't got a PS4 I envy you if you do the sensible thing and buy this.

EDIT: It is extremely quiet.
