From what I can remember silicone is fine but it's the material used to carry it in certain cases that can cause damage. Best avoided. The original gummi pflege was silicone based but they stopped manufacturing it in favour of a non silicone based product.
 
Got a 420d Gran Coupe M Sport (manual) for a courtesy car today - it was enjoyable for all of about 5 minutes on the drive to work but then I started missing the Sports Automatic on my car, the 20d really doesn't work with a manual! Despite the 19" wheels I'm surprised by how 'ok' the ride is, my father in-law used to have an E92 M Sport with 19" wheels and I hated the ride in that.

It does however have the HK stereo which made being stuck in traffic extremely bearable!

I just took delivery of my 420D Msport / Sports Auto / Xdrive last week and finding it a very nice car to be in.

The HK does make a difference compared to my 320 Professional Media for sure. The whole M-Sport + package is great value for money IMO though I'm sure some here might disagree.
 
I've been running my 530d M Sport for a couple of weeks now - very happy with it so far. I got the M-Sport Plus pack, reversing camera and

The low speed ride is a bit firmer than my previous Jag XF-S, but it's very well damped and the engine is lovely and quiet for a diesel. It doesn't feel quite as punchy as the Jag, but I'll see what it's like when it's loosened up a bit.

Are you running in Eco Pro mode?! :p

Having driven nearly every XF model going in the last year with my recent car woes and it being in and out of the dealer, I found the difference between the XF 3.0d and even the XF-S to be night and day, the XF power delivery feels like poop in comparison, the only time it feels more "punchy" is due to the gearboxes tendancy to kick down a lot more even when not in Sport mode, so it's often a lot more ready for some heavy right foot action. But that aside, the 530d just feels so much quicker across the whole rev range

It's probably because it hasn't loosened up yet, and yes Sports mode definitely does liven it up.

There's no doubt it feels a more sophisticated package, the gearbox and engine are much better integrated and smoother than in the Jag, and the Pro Nav system leagues better than Jaguar's offering.
 
Got out the car this morning and went to rub off some mud from the passenger side wheel arch, noticed that on the front bumper from a very particular angle the reflection distorts. It really is only noticeable from certain angles, angles you wouldn't be at when looking at the car normally, but from what I can work out I'm guessing the car had a knock with the previous owner on the front bumper and he's had it repaired but it's not completely perfect.

I've asked people to look and you they didn't notice it until they got down on their knees and looked from where I told them too, but even so.....it's going to bug the **** out of me now!!

Is it not just the angle of the plastic, or orange peel or something? Can you take some photos of the finish?

No it's definitely something as the exact same spot on the other side is fine. If you move your head around once you've locked on, you can see there has definitely been something done. The paint in that area is immaculate though so only someone as OCD as me will notice it, but that's the problem, I'm far too anal about stuff like this. It will eat away at me :p

New car was dropped off at 7am this morning :) Just had a quick drive in it there(I'm working from home today). Ahhh, luxury compared to the A4. Steering is mega light in comparison, though but I'll get use to it in no time.

It's annoying isnt it but this is sadly one of the drawbacks of buying used. I was irritated to discover on the first wash of mine that one of the wheels has been refurbished - the job has been done well but they never told me it had and obviously the refurb finish isn't identical to the gleaming factory finish on the others. You can't tell unless you look closely so it irritates me every time I wash the car and then I forget about it.

I almost will myself to curb it so I can get it redone :D
