*** The Elder Scrolls 5 - Skyrim Official Thread ***

Raymond, don't bother looking too deep into the starting classes, especially as a first time player. It doesn't make much difference in the end. Just figure out what sort of character you want to be (archer, mage, etc.) and just pick whichever grants you the most skill points in that area. Sorted.

As for werewolfs, yes any class can become one. Same with vampires. I also wouldn't avoid the main quest line with the dragons, as it's pretty decent and you'll get to use the shouts and stuff.

It's one of the best games ever!

Glad too see its still riddled with bugs. I appear to have unlocked some sort of sky horse.

Is the remaster graphically worth the AAA price tag? Was interested in this as a digital download but i have already put 300 hours into this on the PC in vanilla format. Might consider giving it a go though. How does it compare to the visuals in witcher 3? I would be playing it on PS4.

I have witcher 3 on PS4 the Witcher is nicer looking in every way from what I see on YT so far.

I tried getting this twice and out of stock in both places.

I've got both on PS4. Skyrim can look really nice in places like the water from a distance and some good looks lighting effects big overall it's not on par with the Witcher. The Witcher world is much fuller with better effects. Skyrim is still a bit rough with some meh textures. I don't see the point buying it if you've racked up the hours previously.

After Witcher, Skyrim feels a bit empty and lifeless in comparison.

Anyone have this crash on their xbox one?

I am one of those who always forgets to save and done a hours worth of side mission and then its crashed, putting me back a hour. I'll let it slide this time but its going in the bin if it happens again :p

Do you not have the option to auto save every 5 -10 mins? I have the remastered version on PS4 and there are options to allow auto saving. It also seems to save every time it needs to load part of a level or dungeon (like when going through a 'loading' door). Cant imagine they would leave that out of the xb1 version. Also when loading games I never simply select continue game from main menu. I always go to load and there are usually at least 3 auto saves in there along with my own manual saves.

Anybody else with the game and a pro think it looks better in 1080p rather than the 4k ? i am sure it downscales the game with supersampling .

i'm sure it does change to 1080p, i can't see the pro having the power to render at 16k to supersample onto a 4k screen

This isn't my style of game at all and heard many a great thing about the witcher 3 so i thought id take the plunge. picked up W3 GOTY, went up to the till and walked out with skyrim. played a few hours so far and done a few of the quests got stuck inside an inn and had to go back a save to get out lol. a few questions...

i seem to get killed a lot. i'm around level 8 and have been levelling up my health at every level up so far. is this normal? any large thing kills me easily and anyone with magic i struggle against.
my weapons are weak also?
how do I unlock the additional content?

enjoying it so far otherwise

The DLC unlocks at a certain level. So if you're getting killed now, no chance you should be playing the DLC.

Yeah there is an autosave feature but it is rubbish. few times now i have been put back 10-15min. Tends to be in caves or if i am doing a massive journey to the next mission and die when i nearly get there.

I have finished this game when it first come out for the PC and can remember my man being an absolute beast, never struggling. This time round though, im dying quite a bit. Stumbled into a lot of the wrong caves and still my best weapon is a from when i was level 4 and i am now 12.

How did we survive back in the days when this was the norm? Can remember losing about 4-5 hours progress on Resident evil 1 because i couldn't find an ink ribbon anywhere. :p

Not necessarily true since the enemy levels with you, so DLC would be the same difficulty as the rest of the game.

Infact I recommend Dawnguard as an early venture, as you get a good follower and some easy fodder to help with leveling.

Don't feel bad about lowering the difficulty if you're really struggling, you can actual alter the difficulty at anypoint within the game. You can lower it for battles you struggle with, and then up it again afterwards.

Magic defence and elemental accessories are good aswell for the magic, even the low % ones can be a big help. A few rings + pendants soon stack up

A bit of a spoiler but its not main questline related : http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/The_Book_of_Love Thats a decent quest to do inorder to grab some magic resistance.
