Show Us Your Motors!

Scrubs up pretty well, not too bad for 22 years old out in all winds and weathers.

A few cosmetic gremlins are starting to show through but with nearly 200k on it, that's not a surprise.

Love that, if that were my car I'd get a massive print done and put it on my wall.

Ive got some forward facing ones somewhere too :)

Remember how I was bored of XJ's after having had them for so long, and the last car I'd be buying was another XJ?

Well....

I managed to haggle this down to £4K and just couldn't resist. It's a 2005 XJR, 100k miles, FJSH, new brakes, new tyres and looks pretty immaculate apart from a few little marks on the alloys.

Can easily get £6.5k for it here, not sure what I'm going to do with it yet :p

Trouble is it will cost £4K to fill it with petrol, £4K to change a brake pad...... :p

I'm happy with buying cheap cars and sticking money into savings. ;)

Hasn't let me down so fa- ... never mind

The same way I got my last one for £4300 tbh. I've spent the last few weeks spending ages looking at ads for Cayenne Turbos, F01 730ds, Mercedes CLs etc etc calling about any ad that looked interesting. 99% of them were crap / overpriced / being sold by morons. Just so happened that the first one I got lucky with was the same as my old car. The advert was really poor with just a couple of lines of description and no photos, on the phone the seller said he'd have to sell it to WBAC if it didn't sell soon, I did a quick check of the WBAC price (£3750) mentioned they'd probably knock him down as it was due a service and had a few scratches on the wheels, and offered him £4K which he accepted immediately.

FWIW, there's plenty available on the internet for less than £7.5k, but if I was to sell it in the U.K. I'd expect to get £6k as an absolute minimum.

Haha, nice one Vox!

This should be a new avatar to celebrate the new forums :)

Geekman, presumably you should just sell it for ~£6.5K in France then, come back, find another one and keep doing the same. £2.5K (less travel costs) in your pocket for each trip home & back is a nice little bonus!

I would be honoured to have that avatar :p

I have thought about buying and selling frequently, the main issue here is the taxes - the French would tax the air you breathe if they could and as my taxes (or lack thereof) are currently done through Monaco getting extra earnings in France could raise some awkward questions.

And Housey, it's going to be doing 900 miles in 1 day in a few weeks so I'll soon find out if it's a good one or not :p
