Get it scanned at Audi, might be some sort of safety feature which happens after a failed/dodgy gear change
Mine kicked up a "transmission malfunction" error message tonight whilst shifting from 2nd to 3rd (1500 miles 4 months old). Was literally in the middle of nowhere, car switched itself from Sport to Manual and locked me into 2nd (couldn't manually shift up or down, neither would it auto-shift).
Limped to a lay-by and turned the ignition off and on, message gone, car seems ok.
Obviously I'll take it to Audi asap, but anyone got and insight? There was an almighty clunk when the error came up (and I was under some pretty hard acceleration).

That's not the point, I was making an "apples for apples" comparison, for sure you'll haggle a better price on the A3, same as you would on the V40 etc Sadly not on the Focus RS as they are list price only or possibly more if you want to jump the queue and get one already delivered.
There should be no failed or dodgy gear changes on an S Tonic transmission!
You misunderstood, for the same money as the RS it only achieved an S Line... an S3 comes to 40k once you get similar spec. Just comparing list prices....for sue you may haggle it down. That wont get you a car anywhere near the same capability or fun. Depreciate on the S3 will likely be much higher.Try comparing it to an S3. I've noticed it always looks better value compared to a top range/loaded with options A3. Plus the S3 will get certain things (e.g. nicer seats) as standard rather than options like on the A3. The residual value on the S3 will be better over time compared to a normal A3.
That said, surely anyone even remotely interested in a Focus RS would focus there attention towards a S3 / RS3 not a A3 model.
So hopefully the S Line suspension I collected today will sharpen up the ride and handling.
We have upgraded sports seats in our A3, having just done a 3 hour round trip today they were pretty uncomfortable compared to my RS... it also understeers and wallows around... couldn't actually wait to get out of it... So hopefully the S Line suspension I collected today will sharpen up the ride and handling.
I'm not I was comparing a seat comfort, doesn't mater what it's fitted in.....Why are you trying to compare a diesel rep car to an RS focus?
Am I allowed not to like it ?
Popular due to people being impressed by chrome edging and badge snobbery? (Yes we have just bought an A3, an itch the wife wanted to scratch)
