ASRock ones seem to have more VRM phases. Presumably they're doing "doubling" though, so how can we directly compare between boards?
You don't, at least not in that sense. Make an informed decision once performance figures drop with whatever one has the upper advantage assuming it has the same level of IO you require.

If I remember correctly voltage controllers only really go up to 8 phases. That means there are no true 12 phase VRMs it would be a doubled 6 phase. There are various as of "doubling" the best being with doubler ICs which split the PWM signal from the controller into two signals. You can also have twice the MOSFETs for each phase and claim a higher phase count that way.
There are even quadruplers too.
In order to compare the strength of the VRMs you'd need someone knowledgeable to have a look and break them down for you.
 
One thing I am liking about AMD is they are genuinely bringing value to the consumer. They could easily have released these chips at Intel prices considering the performance is there.

Instead they are bringing us top end Intel performance at half the price!

Hopefully they can do the same with Vega!

Don't think so as it would suggest the GPU is only using 30 watt of power compared to full load of CPU alone.

When you're gaming your CPU is often not running at 100% on all cores. That's usually reserved for stress tests, or rendering/encoding.

The CPU is most likely overclocked, but we can’t be sure since the validation page is not accessible.
Not only does Ryzen 7 1700X take the lead over Intel Core i7 7700K, but also over Broadwell-E based processors. Of course, CPU-Z benchmark should be taken with a grain of salt, there are far better tools to measure raw performance, yet still, this result is quite good, considering that we are not even looking at the most powerful processor in Ryzen lineup.

Wouldn't that be nice.

I'm dying to build a Ryzen rig but I have a 4790k so I'm going to do Vega first, And the cheaper it is the quicker I can go with Ryzen.

I saw multi threaded from that post, but its single thread that I wanted to highlight going back to that post I see you can click back. Just wanted to highlight what a result this is if only we had the context.
 
For anyone listening from wccftech...

I believe that above CPUz single thread result was achieved using a 1700 overclocked to 7.0ghz, passively cooled
 
They may have translated the table but they messed up all figures for the last 8 or so lines so take the names they used and look at the order of the figures to make more sense of it.
