Porsche Owners Thread - If you own one or just like or hate them! :)

surely any decent tyre place can do that?

I've been to Merityres before with my MX-5 and they were fine but I was wondering if there was a more specialist place that could also check out my suspension. I'm finding my Cayman a bit unsettling driving at speed so wanted to get to the bottom of it.

I'd never see a car as a investment but if you buy carefully you can minimize the depreciation aspect.

My cars just had its second birthday a few days ago and its been serviced by the lovely people down at Porsche Centre Bournemouth, I was expecting a lot worse but £579.98 isn't too bad which included a brake fluid change. I must say as I had the Macan S for the week, i've been quite taken by it as its a great little (well may not so little) run around.

For a second I thought that was the Gee Tee Fearrr!

So will the GT3 be announced tomorrow?

Also found on Rennlist:

For anyone interested here's the link for tomorrow's release, starts at 8.15am http://www.porsche.gomexlive.com

991 GT3 is a lovely car but i'd be very careful with them, depending on which engine revision as it could be ticking time bomb.

I'd expect the 991 GT3 prices to drop now, but the question will be by how much and also assume that RS and R values will now soften with this new car.

Housey, new GT3, its time I think. ;)

Seriously more comfort, more sport, pretty much 500HP, my god sounds like an RS without the price and a little less in your face looks, really blends aggression with clean looks.

RS was my dream car, but as I'd be using daily I would buy one of these instead, but sorry to say, I'd go with PDK, simply because the system is so damn good! :)

The first gen 991 GT3 got an engine issue? Not like the gen 1 997's where they are guaranteed to consume themselves at some point is it? :(
Suppose on the flip side if 991.1 GT3 values get hammered could be an opportunity for me to get into one if they come sub 100k in 2-3 years. :)

Yes, the earlier versions of the engine where replaced under warranty. However, it appears that subsequent revisions also seem to have a problem with the engine not supplying enough oil pressure in some conditions and there has been revisions to the camshaft lobes. There is a lot more information all the changes on RennList but I believe they are up to revision G and there are still a number of reports of misfires with that engine.

The other important change as discussed very heavily on PH, the warranty is no longer valid if the car is driven on a track and its goes wrong. A new engine for one of these cars is in the region of 40-60K.

Dealers have no allocation yet from Porsche GB. However, you'll be getting a phone call if you have been allowed to buy one.

Did I just read that right? You buy your GT3, a car designed by Porsche for the track but if you drive it on track and the engine goes, the warranty is void? Oh dear Porsche! :(

Of course if you money shift it or are banging it on the limiter then yeah, your a numpty and should learn to drive, but if the engine lets go and your driving it correct Porsche should be fixing them!
