500bhp for less than £10k

Dead easy to get 500BHP for less than £10k.

Contrary to manufacturers figures, most Merc E55 Kompressor / W220 S600 BiTurbos / S55 Kompressors / W215 CL600 BiTurbos will make over 500BHP and there's plenty of good ones available for less than £10k.

Alternatively, I paid £4K for my 400BHP Jag, spending £6k on modding it would easily take it over 500BHP, and I'm sure the same goes for a lot of other mid 2000s sports saloons.

As the old saying goes, Cheap / Fast / Reliable, pick 2 :D

But yeah easily manageable really tbh, and probably quite reliable (balance being 10k isn't that cheap :D)

They are around 12-13 for chavved up ones

I'm not sure I'd trust any of them Mercs as daily drivers but guess that isn't the point of the thread
The 55K models are actually very reliable on the whole. Ironically its the suspension which is more of a headache than anything to do with the drivetrain.

the 500bhp thing is pretty misleading though isn't it, you should be able to get something significantly faster for the money (in pretty much any measure than speed to financial ruin) than any of the above if you weren't hung up on the BHP.

So a counter question - can you get 300bhp/tonne reliably for £10k (the rs6 ~250, the Chrysler ~215 and the mercs weigh the same as a small bus)

I'd agree with this view. Should be possible with the likes of an mx5

Cheapest monaro on eBay for £6500 & try and grab an ls procharger supercharger kit from the USA for the remaining £3500. You'd still probably go a little past 10k though.

I bought a Cayenne Turbo for £8.5k last month. £10k wouldn't quite get you a Turbo S but wouldn't be far off. A remap on mine would certainly see it north of 500bhp.

Cayenne is a big lumbering thing though. 500hp won't feel like 500hp.

If you want to go nuts with a cheap car, it needs to be scary :D

Ok so apart from a great big Porsche , a yank tank and a few old Mercs there isnt much in the sub £10k unless we start looking at modifications,

Most of these are limited to 155mph so keeping that in mind.............

............ my next question is whats the fastest car, road legal daily driver for £10k or less that is capable of hitting 155mph regardless of HP?

Just messing around here guys its not a spec me thread, Just this whole 500bhp argument I was having as piqued my interest.
