Tobias Ellwood, selfless hero battles in vain to save the life of the fallen officer

Having lost his brother in the 2002 terrorist bombing in Bali he knows better than anyone the true pain and devastation of terrorism

I hope he gets recognized for his brave but sadly futile attempt to save another human.

With his experience and past experiences he was probably well aware of the possibility that first responders could be targets for secondary attacks as well.

Wasn't the whole thing over in less than 5 minutes? Ambulances have been reported at being on the scene in 6 and it was over before then...

There is a video that was shot about 40 seconds after the vehicle crashed where you can hear the gunshots about 45 seconds or something into the video. The first person was probably run down something like 1-1.5 minutes before that.

Well the daily mail (& others) have decided to splash his murderous mug right across its front pages tomorrow :rolleyes:

The Guardian and Independent have decided to go with the exact photo I posted and concentrated on the heroism of Tobias and left the murderer off the front page, scum doesn't deserve the limelight imho :mad:

Police have asked the press not to publish the attacker's name for now. Perhaps it gives them chance to follow up on any friends/family before they might be alerted.

Wish the news (particularly BBC it seems) would stop referring to our elite CTSFO units as "SWAT teams". Can understand when members of the public call them that but it's sloppy from a journalist.

People have died, families destroyed and victims are still in hospital with horrific life changing injuries!

Don't overreact. Just an observation. Minor granted. I posted earlier about how horrific it has been today. Everything has been said that can be said about that.

Also, these guys go into life threatening situations. Think hours into an event like this it is only right journalists get some steer on the right name to use in reports. That is all I am saying.

In fairness I don't think he was "showboating" how clued up he is. He does have a point. Whether or not now is the time to make that point is the case in question.
