Shots fired outside parliament - Please refrain from speculative and antagonistic posts

Whilst that is true, I'm more likely to get caught up in a terrorist attach in London if I go to London than if I don't ;)

It would never stop be going, but I find it hard to believe anyone would be able to go without the thought entering their mind.

Just to play devils advocate, more people have died in train derailments in London in the last 12 months than they have in terrorist attacks. And there has been ~ 2000 deaths or casualties from traffic accidents in the last 12 months in London.

I understand your point, but you have to take a wider view of things too.

its called accident, very big different from attack

deport the lot of them I say... NOT MORE TRAINS!!! especially those sneaky underground ones... they are the worst...

Luckily most "terrorists" seem to be general nut cases who want to do a bit of terror, and luckily don't think about it too much about the best way to cause maximum damage....

12 years for no result is a pretty disappointing long game.

12 years??

This War has been ongoing for over 1300 years.

This is just the most recent skirmish.

It is also a war that "we" have mainly been losing. "Europe" of 1500 years ago wasn't just the little bit in the north east, It encompassed all of north Africa and much of the near east. It is hard today to think of Egypt as being second only to Rome as a centre for Christianity and peopled by Egyptians rather than Arabs. (It was NOT an Arab country until it was invaded)

Today we are told that the Crusades were some sort of vicious assault on the peaceful Muslim world. The Crusades were no more an assault on the peaceful Muslim world than D-Day was an assault on the peaceful Third Reich!

Sadly we lost!

I think the point is that if you're scared about travelling into London because of the possibility of being caught up in a terrorist attack, you should really be more worried about being caught up in a train derailment or a traffic accident. We generally don't worry about those things (which are much more likely to occur than a terrorist attack) so why should we worry about terrorists?

So...what were the Egyptians before the 'Arabs' invaded? And I think you're a bit confused about Europe...

Police officer named as PC Keith Palmer, a member of the parliamentary and diplomatic protection command.
I'd hazard a guess that the people caught up in this did not live in Zone 1 London in front of the Houses of Parliament. They were there for work / leisure / tourists etc. These are high profile locations. London is a big place. I'd say the chances of being caught up in such an incident if you live in say Chiswick or Putney or West Hampstead etc are just as low as if you live in the country side. These terrible individuals who carry out these attacks want maximum exposure which dictates the locations they choose so will only focus on certain areas.

You can't live in fear of these things to the extent it's dictating where you choose to go on an incredibly slim chance something terrorist related may hsppen. There's probably a higher chance of someone getting run over walking to the post office in your countryside location than it is for someone to get caught up in a terrorist attack in London.
yea i actually got run over on my bike last year a mile from where i live in zone 3....

Transportation accidents are just that, accidents. Transport is a "needs must" kind of thing where as being attacked brutally and at random isnt.

You've done nothing personally wrong to the attacker yet you die in the most savage way and in cold blood.

Accidents happen, murders don't.

It would never stop me going to London but it would always be in the back of my mind. I've been to quite a few NFL games in London and always think it would be a prime target. Luckily there's enough police there to be a small army.

No it hasn't.

That's because it wasn't. Constantinople was secondly only to Rome as a centre of Christianity. Alexandria (not Egypt as a whole) had a substantial Christian population, but most of the residents were Jews or pagans of various types.

Tell that to the families of those innocent people who died yesterday.

They already know. Whatever 'long game' is being played here, it's not one that the terrorists are winning.

I presume that was a slip as surely you're not saying RIP to the terrorist.

Apologies, most definitely a slip. To the 4 that passed away I mean.

EDIT - I am just going to say R.I.P. to the victims of the attack before I slip up again :o. Though good news if it means one less person died.

As to how to up the game, just ask Australia, or Mr. Trump.

Why on earth would we want to ask an ignorant buffoon who keeps getting slapped down by his own judiciary for being an idiot?

Until we treat it as a proper war we will be treated as the meek, apologist, ineffectual, consumerist, drink and drug riddled weaklings we have become.

Well, that's a positive view you have of the citizens of the UK....the same ones in the other breath you say will go forward and 'make the UK great again' after we leave the EU and forge our own place in the world...

Do you come up with all this ******** when addled down the pub with your mates?

Just been confirmed that the attacker was British born

That won't stop the idiots spouting we should stop taking refugees/immigrants/children with facial hair

Tobias Ellwood MP showed great courage and his military background was apparent with his calm CPR and fortitude when he helped the dying police officer, a credit to the UK and his constituents in Bournemouth.

RIP to the innocent people :(

"Sadiq Khan: London mayor says terror attacks 'part and parcel' of living in a major city"

There is something wrong with that person.

Seriously Deuse? A comment from two years ago dredged up and taken out of context and bitched about by Trump Junior? Do you just read alt right headlines and re-quote verbatim without at least engaging your brain and reading the full story?

It's a shame when people bring this thread to their level by name calling. Back on topic.

I see the police have arrested people in connection with the London terror attack in Birmingham. Why am I not surprised.

Beaten to it

Not surprised they have arrested more people or not surprised that its Birmingham? Be specific please.

Actually the Islamic State come up with these descriptions, and unfortunately they are damned right.

Trump is unfortunately battling a load of politically correct dissidents, as are many western leaders and potential leaders.

At least the US Government managed a timely statement of mavity and support, unlike the London Mayor.

Have the government had another of those useless Cobra Meetings yet?

I heard Sadiq Khan on 5 live this morning and he spoke very eloquently in tribute to the murdered officer and the brave men and women of the emergency services running towards danger, and was very positive about the city's response as a whole not to give in.

But don't let your racial prejudice get in the way of all that.
