Xbox Scorpio

This is a step up from that in power though. I like the tech specs but theres i reason i got rid of my xbox one...games. Gears was dull and i dint like racing games so unless they come out with something big at E3 im going to pass.

499 i think itll be.

But the Pro was an even bigger step up from the PS4 (1.8TF->4.2TF->6TF) and that managed to launch at just £50 more.
This is by comparison a smaller step up from the Pro in comparison (GPU to GPU across both brands). I'm saying £399.

PS4 though just put more in..they didn't look or work on any of the chips at a silicon level.

Yeah good point.. Microsoft have actually gone to the trouble of looking at were the limitations of the original jaguar cpu were and stripped it right back to the silicon level so it should be more than up to the job.

2 days to port onto Scorpio with no optimizations to it's hardware at all
Ran Forza 6 with 4k assets,
Dynamic Weather added
Native 4k
Locked 60fps
GPU usage 55%-70%

Settings cranked up to pc ultra with gpu usage hovering around 88% with some spikes to 100%. same high LOD car model for ALL cars even cars 100s ft away Again with no optimizations, aka brute force running on Scorpio

"The crazy story here is that we've gone over our PC ultra settings and for everything that's GPU-related, we've been able to max it - and that's what we're running at, 88 per cent," says Tector, pointing to the utilisation data at the top of the screen. Right beneath it is the anti-aliasing setting - 4x, or rather 8:4x using the Radeon EQAA hardware AA.

"This is rendering the player LOD for every car, so you won't see a single LOD pop. [It's the] top-level model you'd see in race, one below what you see in Autovista, the model you usually only see for the player. And then we balance out LODs across the scene. It's a disgusting abuse of GPU power is what it is, right?"

Reference Forza 6 ran on XB1 with 80%-90% system usage with no dynamic weather

Day one :D

EDIT: good luck buying a complete pc with above spec under £400

I'd like to see them call the XBox One Scorpio. It makes sense (to me anyway) to keep the XB1 branding to show it's part of the same family and compatible, but also make it clear it's the same device they have been talking about recently. I don't think XBox One Pro sounds good and Sony might kick up a stink about that.

Things have definitely got better under Phil Spencer's leadership - just hope the final product looks good, get some more new IPs in and it should be a winner.

I think the fundamental design aspect that will be most interesting by a country mile is the fact MS use profiling tools to really analyse where the time is spent and made the hardware feature set based on that. What's appealing with this is that for once they could well have something that really punches above it's weight. I loved how Cerny took a more 'balanced' approach with PS4 and how this was carried on to PS4 Pro, but now MS have shown off Scorpio, I can't help feeling that this is actually quite a smart move not tried before..

But as always, the proof of the pudding 'an all that..

I do love playing GeOW4 on the PC just because at 2560x1440/60 it's a much more enjoyable game.. However, I'd take 1440p/60 over 4k30 any day of the week, but you know console developers, apparantly 30fps is all we want and it's more important to add eye candy than increase the frame rate..

gears 4 already 1080/60(pvp) on xbox one, should hit 4k/60 easy :D

1080p in certain bits only :p
As soon as it kicks off it drops bigtime - Horde mode / MP prime examples

I still can't see this being able to bring 4K with smooth gameplay

me hates 'dynamic resolutions'. Spoils the gfx.

No point having a 4K console if the title screen will render in 4K but the rest of the game plays in 720 ;)

lol, you get my over-exaggerated point ;)
