Tbf when my 295x2 worked then it worked very very well. Just a shame that Crossfire began to take a slide :(

Why would anyone think there was going to be such a card? Without the Ti it may of been a decent chunk cheaper than the Titan but like with the Maxwell cards it's obvious that the Ti was coming and that it would be the big Vega muncher and pricing would not be that different between them,
With the 980ti the Fury X was slower while costing the same or a little more, The excuses then were HBM and water cooling, It looks like it's going to be the same this time with HBM2 and more water cooling so no nobody could realistically be expecting a card that's faster than the 1080ti to be half the price, That's a tad extreme.

On the down side I must remember that they have lesser DX12 and Vulkan performance than AMD.

But I've never owned an a 1000 series card so not sure how true that is!

If the 1070 wasn't still touching £400 I'd probably have upgraded by now. The current 1000 series are about £100 overpriced. (1070/1080)

The only thing Nvidia have for me that AMD do not have is adaptive V-Sync/Fastsync. When I set my games on Fastsync they just work without tearing. The rest of the stuff don't really care about, does not add one bit of value for me. Once I have a Freesync 2 monitor there will be nothing in Nvidia drivers that I will want or miss. If anything I prefer AMD control panel which looks much more slick and loads super fast.

You would be surprised that some people can't physically remove their AMD-tinted glasses and believe that AMD will release some 1080ti beater for half the price.
But the point fo my post was that best case scenario big Vega might be slightly faster and slightly cheaper than a 1080, so if you have recently purchased a ti there really isn't that much to worry about and you can just enjoy the card now.

Of course there isn't, It's just like how no-one on a 400 series or 10 series is going to be considering the move to one of new 500 series, If it's a sidegrade or down grade it's pretty pointless.

No-ones thinking that. It's never going to happen.

Realistically I'm expecting it will win some and lose some against a 1080 and it'll be priced roughly the same as a 1080 or maybe a little more.

Call me optimistic but i am expecting the big vega released for consumers, not prosumers, to fight the 1080ti headon. Now it will most likely loose in games that overuse certain gameworks features but overall i think thats the level we will see vega perform. Price wise im expecting around 20% lower MSRP than the 1080ti but price gouging will make it equal in price as usual so in the end it will not really matter as it seems retailers and e-shops have never given a potato's behind about AMDs MSRPs.

EDIT: on second thought its most likely not retailers and eshops that chooses to ignore AMDs MSRP but those who supply them. The so called middle man.

Of course Vega is not Polaris, but Vega is an evolution of GCN. Vega is designed and sold by AMD, just like Polaris, and just like any company that aims to still exist in the future follows basic economics in regards to product pricing.

lol, that doesn't actually have anything to do with what i said, I think i have explained this before but i'll try again, you can't use Polaris to predict Vega, in the same way you couldn't have used VLM4 to predict GCN, Fermi to predict Maxwell....

I think you were one of the ones who predicted AMD could not match the original Titan because it would be far too big and consume far to much power, you based that on the 7970, you were completely and utterly wrong, in fact AMD beat the original Titan with a much smaller chip on the same process. Why? because the 290X was not the 7970.

Vega is not Polaris, you'd be a fool to go down this road of using old tech to predict new tech, its not a clever thing to do.

Its not for gaming, its for compute, if it was for gaming, it would need to top the Ti, and by a good amount, so that it would even be an upgrade to those.

I disagree, the TI is like 0.5% of the market and even if AMD had a card like that they would sell 10x less than nVidia at a much lower cost....

In the $600+ range the numbers don't add up for AMD.
The main market for them is the $150 to $300 range, RX 560, 570, 580... above that they probably do ok below the $500 range, the GTX 1070 and 1080's, if AMD can knock out a 1080< level card for the price of a GTX 1070 they would do alight.
 
Which is why its not for gaming, but compute, and why they don't need to get it out ASAP, as its already finished for gaming, and has been for nearly a year, its pointless as a gaming card, AMD know it, and why they done it for compute.

As was said by someone else, yeah, you'll be able to game on them, and i do expect them to still be an upgrade for 2/390 owners, but i wouldn't expect anything stellar, as they are compute cards, first and foremost, compute cards, that just happen to be alright for a bit of gaming too (from what little we've seen), if you want to use them for that, but if its only gaming you want a card for, its only Nvidia who do those cards now.

Got to disagree there. AMD are far from finished in PC gaming.
