uk national debt is £1.73 trillion. how are the planning on paying this off if it just keeps on rising? it's tripled in the past decade.

Okay, essentially, when a country is in a budget deficit (the amount of money brought in each year in tax/etc is lower than the cost of funding the countries public services/etc) it has to loan money each year to pay the bills (and the interest on debt from loaning money to pay the bills). Once you eliminate the deficit and the budget runs into surplus (the amount of money brought in each year in tax/etc is higher than the cost of funding the countries public services/etc) like it was before Blair decided to be a baller, then you can pay off the debt.

It's a tad more complicated but that's the jist of it.

UKIP have gone full UKIP I see.

I think apart from a couple of dodgy point i don't see it as unreasonable:

Key points from UKIP's integration agenda
Posted at12:16

Here are the key points from UKIP's integration agenda:

  • A moratorium on new Islamic schools in the state system "until the entire Muslim community is better integrated"
Agreed, heck i don't think religon has any place in schools, i'd have included catholic and christain schools in there as well
  • If children are exposed to Islamist ideology that school should be suspended, taken over by the DFE and subject to investigation
Isn't this pretty much whats happening already? See the Trojan Horse scandels in Birmingham
  • Failure to report FGM should be a specific criminal offence
FGM is horrific mutilation of young and underage girls. It should be up there with rape, after all it is child abuse
  • Medical practitioners should have to waive patient confidentiality and report cases of abuse of children
How is this a problem, any right minded person should be agreeing with this
  • Girls at risk of FGM should be required to have annual school-based medical examinations
As above, this is an epidemic problem and needs to be stamped on harshly. If a teacher suspects a child in school to being absued, arn't they meant to report it?
  • The CPS should pursue prosecution of parents of FGM victims
In nearly every case of FGM, the parents are the problem, so i think this goes without saying
  • Crimes where race is a factor, such as in Rotherham where gangs of Pakistani men groomed white women, should be treated as a hate crime
Finally, real racial equality
  • Ban Sharia law and set up a legal commission to disband Sharia courts
There shouldn't be any Sharia courts in the UK, everything is already covered in UK law and the seacret Sharia courts which are outside the system are just a group of rampant misogynists opressing women
  • All official documents should be in English
My parents had to force themselves to learn English to get on in the UK in the 1970's, and because of that they did extremely well in society because they were able to integrate. This is true of first gen Pakistanis as well
  • Ban face coverings or veils in public places
I would personally love to see this, it has nothing to do with Islam, promotes segregation and is a tool by middle-eastern men to oppress women.

I just wish the Conservatives were doing this too

The other approach is to grow GDP faster than the debt grows. That way, inflation reduces the value of the debt, same as it reduces the value of cash under your mattress.

Well I'm sure that would win a lot of votes in a Christian country :p

  • If children are exposed to Islamist ideology that school should be suspended, taken over by the DFE and subject to investigation
Do they mean radical Islamist there, or do they not understand the difference?

How is this a problem
It isn't, hence why it's already a thing, either UKIP don't know that or they're hoping the people reading their manifesto don't.

  • Ban Sharia law and set up a legal commission to disband Sharia courts
It's already banned.

  • All official documents should be in English
They already are, plus available in other languages.

Uber, the UKIP stuff is the bullet points, my opinions are the non-bullet pointed ones. Try again please :)

I think he knew that, he's allowed to critique both isn't he?

Well I'm sure that would win a lot of votes in a Christian country :p

[/QUOTE]

Is there a definable difference between radical Islamist and general Islamist ideology? IMO they are too many grey areas, and any sort of religious ideology should never ever be promoted in schools. I went to a christian school. It was great and I enjoyed it. Don't think christian flavoured schools should exist either though. Integration along religious lines will never happen in this country until religious schools are eliminated totally.

I always thought the coalition ended up being the best government we had for ages. It took some of the sharp edges off the more extreme Tory policies. I felt sad that in return for that the Lib Dem voters deserted them in droves as they felt betrayed.
Aye, completely agree. They were judged far too harshly.

Labour were building schools with spas, relaxation rooms and designer chairs for the classroom. Council houses were demanded to be built to a higher spec than the private stock.

In hindsight, not putting a few quid away for a rainy day during the boom has completely destroyed labour as a party.

This. I always thought the coalition ended up being the best government we had for ages. It took some of the sharp edges off the more extreme Tory policies. I felt said that in return for that the Lib Dem voters deserted them in droves as they felt betrayed.

The worst part bring that, with the exception of tuition fees, the lib dems actually stuck pretty closely to their manifesto. People got butt-hurt about the lib dems not doing what they thought they would, despite them doing what they said they would, especially on Taxation, the nhs etc.

I'm sure you'll be able to back up those claims.

Building housing stock to a higher standard than the frankly terrible quality that Bovis etc. build to is a good decision and would likely have seen lower total cost of the house over its lifetime through reduced maintenance requirements.

It's true. The standards for social housing are higher than private.

I meant the schools with spas, relaxation rooms and designer chairs presented as though it happened a lot. I've never heard of it before.

Don't know about the spa's but can confirm two state schools the gf has taught at have relaxation rooms and designer chairs.

I've worked on a private school with a full spa set-up.
