Show Us Your Motors!

This again. Tell me again how there would be much difference in costs over 3 years between a circa 2006 DB9 and a brand new 530d that I had just gotten rid of.

Surely these are rather different dynamics, a warranted lease/finance car vs an old liability of a near supercar requiring upfront capital and risk of large one off costs with no notice?

I'm going to post different pictures of lemons at irregular intervals until Acme gets directed by the powers that be to stop spamming this thread as these pictures are just as relevant.

That's way before my time but I have seen it referenced. Was it when the forum moved to VB?

I don't remember tbh. I can't remember it being anything but VB before now, somebody in here will know though. I can only remember having to start again and I lost the only photos I had of my old watercooled case as the watercooled case gallery disappeared. I was only about 15 or 16 at the time so most of what I wrote was twaddle anyway. :D

Different dynamics perhaps. TOC's would be similar though, if not in favour of the Supercar, providing there were no eyewatering bills of course, but I was factoring in AM's own warranty into my calculations over the term. The initial purchase price would have to be done on HP rather than PCP, meaning higher monthly payments of course, but apart from that, you would lose a hell of a lot less in depreciation over 3 years with a 10 year old DB9 than you would with a new 5 series. I was looking at examples with a similar purchase price to that I paid for my 5 series. Hence why I was considering one. The costs involved were not what stopped me going down that route, but other factors.

By all means consider motors to have won this round. I do not however. But then I don't care if people disagree with my opinions on car ownership. I buy what is right for me at any given time. Not what others think would be acceptable.

Yeah, last quote completely taken out of context there. But I guess facetiousness / sarcasm is lost in internet text.

You guys would honestly bleed from your eyes if you saw my car purchase list over the years! Acme is young and lives with mam and dad so let him waste money on these cars, he gets enjoyment out of it so... The only thing I have picked him up on is wasting money on rust repairs etc, go faster parts are fair game!

Acme - The MK1 looks tidy, put some wider arches on the front along with a ducktail and it will look tidy! (my opinion)

Thanks mate. I want to go the other way though, narrower wheels and loose the wide arches on the back. Maybe get some 'Dans small arches' which I think look neat, just for the back wheels.

Ducktail is a go for sure. :)

And at least I'm aware that I'm young and dumb and I know I'm crap at buying cars, and appreciate that lots of you won't like them eh? :p

Just do what makes you happy, not what makes other people happy! Hell ive spent near enough £3k on my £400 MK2 MX5 since I've owned it! Do I care if people think its a waste of money? Nope

I quite like the overfenders with a slight arch extension as well!
