**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Thread ****

There is option in settings to prevent phone from unlocking if in your pocket. Display settings -> keep phone turned off. This will switch AOD as well to save battery when in your pocket or flipped screen down.

This should fix that problem if you don't have any lock mode on.

Interested in gear vr with remote review, especially for watchimg movies etc .

I'm speaking from experience with an S7 and found the 'keep screen turned off in pocket' worked well when on Marshmallow but once upgraded to nougat it didn't work so well if at all. I had apps opening and 'butt dialing' contacts. Had to set up a phone lock to stop this happening whilst in my pocket.

Nice! Looks very premium

I assume it's as smooth around the edges as it appears in pics? No "lip" / lifting feeling at the edges?

Does it make it any grippier?
There is a tiny bit of lip but that will settle with time, as the S7 edge one was the same.

Have to say I'm very disappointed in the quality of the finish on the metal trim. It marks very easily indeed. I'd much rather have bare metal for this very reason.

This is on the orchid grey so I dead to think how badly the black marks.

Due to lack of screen protection I've decided to go for a flip case for the first time in years. Never got on with them before but don't see any other choice.

Ordered a clear view case in black and a Uag metropolis. Also some of the official Samsung screen protectors.

Do you have any pics?

I did. On April 19th.

Spoke to them today and they said:

Saw something on their site about a refund if products aren't delivered within 30 days...but I imagine that goes out of the window when it's custom made maybe? But then again - aren't all of their cases custom made?

Yeah you're right about the 30 day thing, it seems they are telling us different things. Hoping I can cancel after the 30 day period. But like you mentioned I think their cases are all custom made anyway.

Such a shame as there very nice cases, I ended up buying and using the clear view stand cover instead.

Are you using a different case to?

Does anyone get peek notifications for any other notifications or just txts?

I only seem to get the blue peek popups for txts and nothing else.

Also are these supposed to popup over the top of the always on display?

My heads-up notifications take up the whole width of the display when they fly down a bit from the top, do yours only take up a small bit or something?

How was it to fit mrk?

No different ot the fit on the S7 edge. Very good! It's why I prefer dbrand skins vs others, as I know the fit will always be excellent. I followed the instructions provided by dbrand's youtube channel and it was a piece of cake. Finger nailing the edges down won't always give a flush finish, that comes after a couple of weeks of use as the edges naturally get rubbed down by your hands.

You don't even notice the black version;s metal trim as it's so black and blends in with everything else. You have to really eyeball close to even notice it's metal. Reflections and the curve mean it's just hidden away. Nevertheless, no marks on the black.

After a week of relatively heavy use, my battery life has been steadily going up. Currently it stands at:

Just put a Spigen Neo Flex case friendly screen protector on.

I'm impressed, managed to get it on straight and bubble free, it's not lifted in my spigen air cushion case and you can't tell its fitted. It needs 48 hours for the wet fix solution to cure so hopefully I'm now set.

Try dialling the below for any red tint and see if helps, just found this now:
*#15987#

This is the software fix I was laughing at earlier bud.

That's what the samsung engineer remoted onto mine and performed. after reducing red down to -6 it was still visible on my first handset.
Second one I won't even bother with as it has a charging issue also.

Both were from samsung direct. Both returned. Need to buy one from a local shop so I can return straight away. Best place to get one?

Hmm, I guess it's difficult to say as I have not seen the issue. There is slight amoled discoloration but I just hope this is not what people talk about.

I've got the one I'm using from COW and so does my colleague- no problems there and already got latest firmware since day1 so can recommend that if you're going to buy locally I guess.

I've just checked with my local carphonewarehouse - they have stock - hope their open tomorrow

The tint is red - on my first phone it was really bad on a white screen. You could see the pinkish tint go up to the top 1.3 of the screen.
This second one has the tint on the right edge but the bottom is fine. Was prepared to live with it but charger's knackered.

I've only had two of them but both showed the tint issue. As time progresses though it either gets worse or better - not a chance I am willing to take

Is that when you look straight at the screen (like when switching blue light filter on)or only at angles? Just curious as I find it hard to believe it could be that bad and with today's media after note7 fiasco I'm taking all those photoshopped pictures online with a pinch of salt.

Straight at it bud. I've tried it with and without the blue light filter and with and without edge lighting - makes no difference.

My second model isn't actually that bad - just a slight glint of red down the right edge.
First one was really bad though - that one most of the screen was pink! It didn't start out that way but got worse over the course of about a week.
I've not seen any photoshopped pictures - i'm going by my own experience.

Most people won't notice it until it's mentioned - once mentioned its hard not to see it!

I have a minor (maybe for now) "issue" I cannot find anything online about this. To wake my phone up, I usually press down the home key rather than the power button, however it doesn't register me touching/pressing it. I could press on the home button and nothing happens but maybe 5 -10 seconds later, tapping the home key again it will just work as normal. Other times I seem to have to press harder than usual. It's very intermittent and hope it's not an imminent problem.

I did read about home button "moving" but it's not that much! I could live it but just mildly annoying (or can just use the power button). No one has experienced this at all?
