The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

As for playing TW3 with controller - ugh what are you guys thinking!? MMO style mouse with buttons mapped to signs and dodge is much better.

Sofa and 100" screen on projector is where it's at, lifesize Geralt FTW :p

For anyone interested, the GOTY is currently £17.49 at humble store

I completed the Witcher 3 with a controller and wouldn't have it any other way:p

Horizon and Witcher are quite different, both have flaws and strengths. I initially thought they were more alike. All in all, Horizon is more fun to me because of the world itself and machine combat (human combat is rather average). It looks better and plays better, Witcher feels clunker in comparison. It was quite a letdown on the gameplay front when I first played it and it's even more glaring now that I'm replaying it. I've also just gotten to Skellige and lost the urge to continue because I'm already past the highpoint of the plot.

As for the story, I can't speak for Horizon as I haven't completed it yet, but I was never a fan of Witcher 3's story. Don't see the supposedly immaculate writing anywhere. Some great quests and dialogues? Absolutely, but the main story itself was average and lacked focus/build-up.

EDIT: However, if I hadn't played W3 before and were forced to choose one over the other I wouldn't be able to as I'd want to finish both:p

Both are absolutely worth playing IMO and I don't regret my time with either, but Zelda beats both as a GAME so far (playing it as well so I'm not judging from YT videos):p

Nier Automata is also worth grabbing because you're getting great gameplay AND a very compelling story in a more focused experience.

Roccat Sova + Steam Link works for me at the moment for sofa PC gaming. :) Really need to rebuild my rig in a small case and move it downstairs, though.

Regarding open-world games, I'd like to play the new Zelda but not sure if I have the energy for yet another massive game after recently playing GTAV, RotTR, TW3, Wildlands and Horizon. Might give Nier a go if it looks more on rails.

Yeah you can of course.

You can't do all of the supporting character questlines I believe? But all of the encounters/treasure hunts/Witcher contracts should still be there.

It does pop up a warning when you to the "point of no return", so you'll at least know when you get there

Yeah some of the sidequests that are tied into the main storyline are not available, but it is quite logical. All the quests independent of it are available though.

SO cool that Netflix is working in a witcher series, not related to the game or Dev's in any way but the Author is behind it and hopefully wants royalties this time! He so bitter ;)

Will keep an eye on it

One one hand, it is pretty much the best outcome realistically possible. And if you told my 13 year old me that my favourite book saga is going to get this level of videogame and live action treatment, my mind would have blown up (well, it did anyway, given Witcher 3's quality).

On the other hand, I can't help but wish the TV series was done entirely in CGI, Night to Remember style, so all the actors from games could return. I will have a hard time seeing anyone else as Geralt than his voice actor, same for Yennefer and others.

Completely agree with that. Some of the launch cinematics for this game were incredible.

Hopefully it gets a good budget and doesn't look cheap like some of the Netflix marvel crap they churn out

All cinematics/trailers for Witcher3 were done by company who is actually making this tv series :)
Also guys from Expanse tv series are involved in the script I think+Sapkowski as a consultant....+netflix's money....looking good:D

Witcher 1/2/3 intros were done by Platige, yeah, but the best CGI of all - Night to Remember - was done by Digic :)

But Platige are brilliant, their involvement does give this project a lot of credence.

Night to remember was fantastic and sold non rpg friends of mine on the game right before release

Gives me goosebumps every time

Do wish I could replay the main game but I fear I wouldn't get far before burning out on it

Two years since release...time flies..

A question in regards to Silver Sword stats, if anyone can answer. Playing Blood and Wine now and I know Aerondight is the better if you keep levelling it up but in regards of these two Silver Sword, which one is the best ?

Gesheft
508-620 damage
+30% Aard Sigh Internsity
+100% Critiical Hit damage bonus
+15% Critical Hit chance
+15% Chance to poison
+5% Bonus experience from Monsters

Ami
Damage 532-650
+300 Armor Piercing
+30% Quen Sign intensity
+75% Critiical Hit damage bonus
+15% Critical Hit chance
+15% Chance on Stagger

Obviously looking right at the damage output the Ami is the better one, but with the stats, wondering if Gesheft is still better or not ?? :)

Id say Ami is better but I would choose Gesheft cause of the aard bonus. However most of the time i chose swords based on what looked cooler cause the game didn't require too much min maxing.

well as its silver
#Armour Armor Piercing = pointless, no monsters have armour to penetrate

Hit chance it the same,
Crit is higher on GeShaft
Stagger vs Posion. Stagger wins, their a lot of monsters who cannot be poisoned,

Things that cannot be poisoned

poisoners (Insects/Griffons etc) + Drowners + Elemental.

this leave Ard vs Quen
+ the 5% bonus worthyness

Ami would be better on DeathMarch due to Quen is vital.
Geshaft has better crit bonus

What to play after Witcher 3 on PC? Buy/beg/steal/borrow a PS4 and get Horizon: Zero Dawn. Right up there with TW3 IMO! Writing not quite as good but it's epic! :)

I'm waiting on The Fall 2 on PC but nothing much else has piqued my interest. Can't bring myself to buy the new Mess Effect.

cant play any third person game with keyboard feels slow unresponsive
