Do people really think this is about the average joe? This is about making it harder for people to find hitmen, guns, porn, death videos. How is that a bad thing? I don't understand.

Yea, i'll say the same thing back to you. You're a paranoid conspiracy nut. 99% of the world are good people just trying to go about their lives, you obviously think there's some evil underbelly to people, i don't believe that and anthropologists would agree with me.
Do you believe we landed on the moon?
9/11?
Views?
Why shouldn't I be able to find porn?
I am about as far away from being a conspiracy nut as they come, I'm not sure what's happened in your own life to instantly fling that as a response.
This has nothing to do with being a good person or not, and making up statistics doesn't help your point.
Then make an effort and stop it yourself... there are numerous options out there(sorry bit presumptuous you're not doing that already).Yea, but i don't want my kids finding it so easily, you can see all the research saying it affect on young people, it's massive. I've nothing against porn obviously

If your kids are remotely intelligent they'll get around whatever blockades are put in place anyway.

Amazing.I don't actually have kids
I don't actually have kids, i was sort of speaking in future tense, my mistake. When i have kids, i don't want them stumbling across it, and it's obvious you don't get it. Go do some research about it and then say that, i think you'd have a completely different view, children as young as 10 are stumbling across it all the time. Do you think thats ok? Or would like an environment where that doesn't happen? i know which option i'd choose. No idea how someone can defend it really, it's obvious you haven't done any reading on the topic. It's baaad!

I've found it's always best to put your fingers in your ears, cover your eyes and pretend something doesn't exist, rather than facing up to issues.
I wouldn't want children stumbling across it either... it's not something they should be viewing inadvertently or deliberately but it's not something that can be stopped via such proposals.
Thanks for making all these assumptions about me but you couldn't be more wrong. If there was a realistic way of achieving this then I'd be all for it but there isn't as such it's just a waste of money and inevitably eroding privacy.

This is where we're headed:

I do have kids, and whilst I don't want them to viewing porn, there is very little I can do to stop them round a friend's house, or or at school on mobiles etc. (In much the same way that porn mags and vhs got passed around when I was at school)
I have had "the chat" with my kids, and take an interest in what they are looking at when they are on the internet. Education is surely always the better option than trying to hide things from our children.
If there wasn't a realistic way of achieving it then why are guns so hard to find? Google have said there efforts have been excellent in making searching a safer place for people.
