Why does it have to be about destruction? the NSA "would" do stuff like that for the power not because they want to destroy.

I think you are too trusting in authority figures to see the scale of over-reaching power these systems would give compared to the size of the problem they are ostensibly being implemented to deal with.

The reason i'm trusting is because we see the effect of what our government do, we live in incredibly safe and prosperous country compared a lot places. I'm also trusting because i believe people are good at heart, there's a small percentage of people that want to see the world burn, that's not say we shouldn't be vigilant though, obviously. In general, we can sleep well at night.

And that is how I want it to continue but what you are supporting risks destroying that as much as those small numbers of people want to.

The day we let go of our freedoms because of terrorists is the day they have won.

So once the government has all this power and control what happens when somebody like, let's say, UKIP become the government and they then use those powers you granted them to deport all darkies?

The UK gov have been using various boogymen (terrorists, peados etc) to gradually erode liberties for years. They're already forcing isp to censor and restrict access to certain sites with particular content.

I agree that lost of people are dangerous and can influence other people into doing horrible things. Not specifically tied to Islam though.

So yes, I agree with our security services having the power to monitor certain people and track them. That's what we always have done and very well.

So why does this need to be extended to everybody? It's using a sledgehammer to crack a nut. So you therefore look to the other reasons why they want to do it. It's all about power and control.

I believe you're paranoid about the intelligent services, and naive to the threats. You've just admitted the intelligent services and have been doing well, you do realise that the intelligent services and said several times now that they can't do what they need to do with the current set of powers. You do realise the intelligent services have advised what needs to happen. Why all of a sudden, is it paranoia about their intentions when you've previously been happy?
