*** Nintendo Switch ***

Did you manage to get one without issues in the end?

I gave up I am going to wait until splatoon 2 or Mario is released before buying another switch, fingers crossed the issues would be fixed by then. In the repair report they didn't even bother trying to fix the right joycon.

If you hold them separately (one in each hand) and close together do they still function properly? I find it weird that I get this issue on both of my joycon sets.

Gave it a go with Mario Kart and Minecraft, put the two joy cons together until they were touching and there were no issues, what happens with yours do they go laggy or just start cutting out completey?

They never sent me a repair report. I'm going to send the right joycons to them again, but I'm getting a bit fed up now.

It seems like the stronger signal of the repaired left joycon is interfering with the right one.

Edit: or not, it happens with just the right joycon connected.

Yeah they announced ARMS is getting free DLC updates (stages & characters) post-release.

Same!. I'm going to be almost exclusively playing multiplayer games for the next few months it seems.

I don't know what it is, But I've struggled to play any sort of game for years now. But Ever since I got my switch, I've been hooked. I'm having to stop myself by taking breaks and only buying one game a month. The next 6 months are going to be very expensive!

I got a refund for my joy cons that I purchased separately but I don't want to return my Switch as I want to play the games I have now.

I guess I'll keep sending it into Nintendo until they do something about it.

At this point i would be repairing myself Kree. Guides online show it as easy enough to do!

Side note. Yesterday I contacted the preferred store for purchasing a Switch, they're out of stock and they're not sure when the next shipment is. Nor could I order one to reserve myself one either.

Going to see if I can setup some kind of stock alert through their website. I cant order online either to just get one when it does arrive, its a first come first served basis.

I'm worried after waiting this long it might end up being delayed due to stock issues.

Fingers crossed!

It's a shame that people are still having issues with Joyconns on their Switches. It's issues like that that puts some folks like myself from being an early adopter and getting one now. On more positive news...

Custom Docks!

Anyone who doesn't like the regular Switch dock, good news. There's already custom made docks available to buy from places like Amazon. Only downside is that it's just the plastic bit, so folks will have to take apart their existing Switch dock and transfer over the PCB to the new one. This video gives a good example with a Dock that looks like the old WiiU gamepad charging dock.

The dock is honestly one thing I don't like about the Switch as it is now. It's vastly overpriced for what it does and it barely does much at all. I was surprised when they took it apart and it didn't even have any fans or additional cooling in the dock. It's just an empty plastic shell.

As for that old Rocket League rumour, I remember reading in an article or seeing some video somewhere that it wouldn't be happening. Can't exactly find it though, looking it up all I can find is that 'it's being considered'. I just hope this year's E3 is better than last years. Surely they can't do any worse, especially with a new console that desperately needs games on it. They need to churn out new game announcements. Obviously certain announcements like Pokemon (and especially a console bundle for it, like they will with Splatoon) would absolutely cement the Switch as a success.

Well, i am running a left joy con issue when i first bought it and then decided to go with Pro controller. Custom dock is probably a nice idea, but what about the cooling? That is why i am really afraid of.

Don't have much hope on Rocket League since the developer never said anything about switch version. They said that they are interested, but we still have no confirmation for it. Better to wait for E3 for Super Mario

What about the cooling? The current dock doesn't have any so you won't be losing any. All the circuitry is retained so the switch still knows it is in "console mode".

Played some MK with the family at the weekend. One of my Sister in Laws is a dab hand at MK7 so my initial confidence quickly wore off.

After an initial 10 minute panic when I managed to install the strap thing backwards (how is this even possible?!) we were up and running.

My wife (an avid gamer with more than 1,000 hours in Destiny to name but one game) utterly sucks at battle mode. She lost the first game 9-0 to her sister.... (lol).

It is funny as I tried playing the game solo and didn't really enjoy it (obviously no longer my cup of tea) but in a group, wow!

:)

Might be a silly question, but did someone say that arms and splatoon 2 were solely online games? If so, does that mean that when nintendo start charging for online play you will need a subscription to carry on playing?

That's not true. They have online capability but not solely online only like Destiny etc.

Is Zelda worth getting if you have never played a zelda game before? I've no idea how I missed the series as I owned a snes back in the day. Although thinking about it, it was basically a street fighter 2 machine lol

They're all stand alone mate - so no issues jumping in. In my mind they're all retellings of the same story that got mixed up over time and became folklore.

How could you not pick up LttP on the snes?! Shame on you, sir.

There are a lot of timeline theories out there and Nintendo even officially confirmed the fact of 3 timelines mostly all stemming from Ocarina of Time. Crazy really. But yes it retells the story in the sense its a never ending circle of evil rises, good awakens and stop it. Some of the timeline videos on youtube are interesting.

You can totally play them standalone but if you go digging you'll soon find references from one game to another! :)
