Women's eyebrows these days - What the devil is going on?

I love this thread, I also have no idea what's going on.

Used to work with someone who every couple of weeks would have her eyebrows waxed, threaded, tinted and bronzed. Bonkers must have cost a fortune, not sure why two weeks.

Just asked the mrs and she thought the thread delivered but just said it's some trend, will be something else next.

Be great if you could get a trend going, just to mock the followers, I dunno Marge Simpson hair?

I am noticing a bit of a trend, where woman who usually use loads of makup on their face have bad and tired looking skin underneath. Did the bad skin come first or the makeup?

You don't see anywhere near as many men with skin in poor condition.

Its absolutely gross, not sure why some women butcher their eyebrows in such ways. Reminds me of the duck face trend.

I was in Barcelona the other week, walking around. I was taken by how pretty many of the local women are, how nicely they seem to dress, how unmaid up they are. I noticed one girl, she stood out as she had the aforementioned eye bugs and 10 feet of makeup on. As I got closer I realised she was an English girl. I'm pretty much 50 so an old geezer but there is a fashion for the west coast porn star look (I've never seen porn obviously...) amongst girls on a night out in the UK that I don't see in many places in Europe. Classless, that's the word.

Still would obviously, but I am making a point here.

I've seen a lot of porn and I think you're being unfair to porn performers. This sort of look would be an odd fetish niche in porn. The only makeup as laughably fake that I've seen in porn is the odd fad for huge amounts of blue eyeshadow a few decades ago.

Ah yes, the TV approximation of an alien female, just like an earthbound gorgeous 34-26-34, 5ft 7in 9st. homo sapien female but with wonky eyebrows.

Like that's completely realistic, based on real research and intelligent summation. .

It's the main reason I hate Sci-Fi with a passion, it's all complete cack isn't it ?

Budgets. You need makeup that can be done quickly and cheaply. Likewise for sets, so your "alien" planets are going to be remarkably Earthlike. Most of them are within 30 miles of the Hollywood sign due to cost (they have to pay extra if actors have to work more than 30 miles from there).

Make up is getting a bit out of hand these days tbh and it's not good. What I'm trying to say is Kim is basically a horse underneath all that makeup yet you wouldn't typically find a horse attractive. People are becoming attracted artificially, therefore there is no genetic necessity for natural human beauty any more. How many people simply ignore the fact that their partner looks like a horse when they're not caked up with makeup?

Can't say I've noticed. But then again, I notice very very little what goes on around me unless something comes in and blocks my direct line of vision.

People and their little trends huh.

The standard of attractiveness is rather high in the Porn world these days, slim, curvy with
film star looks.

I remember the 80s, those halycon days of Vido Euro Porn [ mostly German ]
where the hefty girls wouldn't have looked out of place in the German male weighlifting team.

Women feel this or how men feel women should look?

For porn, it's a matter of what customers will pay for. Why would they care about the sex of a person who buys their product? Money is money.

There's no such thing as "women feel this" or "how men feel women should look". Your belief that women are all the same person and men are all the same person is nonsense. Sadly popular nonsense, but still nonsense.

There are trends, of course, and they tend to be more noticeable in porn performers who draw big audiences for the obvious reason that those who appeal to a larger market are usually those who best fit trends. But even in that area there's a far wider variety of appearance in porn than in, for example, fashion models.

Eh... I asked a simple question. It wasn't a belief. I thought the question mark was a giveaway.

I thought the words were a giveaway. I still do.

It's not impossible or even uncommon for a question to contain one or more assumptions. In this case, that there is such as thing as "women feel this" and such a thing as "how men feel women should look", since your question gave those as the only two possibilities. That's a belief - the belief that those two things exist.

I don't know what's worse, the hideous 'HD' brows or the foot long fake eyelashes. Women are mostly scared of spiders but will keep those things lying around, they look worse than most spiders I've seen

Simple fact is, you're going to have to wake up next to someone in the morning and it's preferable if you know what to expect, rather than suffering the shock of a cheese and tomato omelette grinning at you.

I think often people cover bad skin with foundation as a short term fix but then it becomes a permanent thing. Never giving the skin enough time to breathe means the complexion doesn't recover.

I would primarily be interested in hearing opinions of female posters on this phenomena... I going crazy or have you noticed this too?
From a female perspective: I've noticed it and I don't get it either. I'll pluck one or two wayward hairs if I notice them to keep them tidy, that's about it for me when it comes to eyebrows. I'm not really one for the modern trend for heavy makeup though, I simply don't get the fake HD eyebrows & contouring thing. I do wear a little make up and only ever wear eye make up if going 'out' (e.g. not every day and definitely no false eyelashes). Even on a night out I look positively like I've made no effort at all compared to 90% of the other women I see out. Mind you all the heavy make up lovers must be in hiding in this thread as I never fail to see these girls getting lots of male attention.

EDIT: You'll have to take my word I don't look like a hairy trucker named Dave. Either that or one of the people on the forums I've met will have to vouch for me :p

Don't get it, just reminds me of Angry Birds
Hahahha, nail, head.
