What Ive taken away from this election

  • The DUP are screwed next election. Whoever gets close with the tories will always get screwed over
  • The Right Wing Press dont have as much clout as they thought. All that negative press against corbyn didnt work as well as they hoped
  • The young turned out in numbers which helped Labour. If this is anything to go by... As the older population begins to diminish in numbers... Labours is likely to grow. It was on the BBC somewhere that it was 65% Labour, 25% tories and 10% minor parties between 18-25 year olds.
  • We wont be hearing coalition of chaos anytime soon from May

I think the negative press did work. I know a lot of people who would have voted for Labour but changed their minds because of the press. Perhaps without the negative press, Labour might have won a majority? We will never know.

that makes no sense. If the young don't want to pay for them then surely they would vote COnserative, it was May after all that wanted to do a smash and grab raid on the old folks houses to make them pay for their own care ?

Errrrr yes by 'stealing' the kids inheritance - do keep up lol

That's a good thing, if somebody doesn't think it's worth paying because they will prob fail/drop out or their chosen career isn't worth it then why should the taxpayer be forced to pay for it?

Only the well off would consider that good thing, the kind of people that don't consider 20K a lot of money and vote conservative I guess.

Exactly, the root cause here is that we have an ageing population and that young people don't want to pay to care for them.

Labours manifesto was like giving a credit card to a teen.
considering the "aging population" have had the best of it you can hardly blame them

pretty much a moot point when the conservative one consisted of basically a list of "would likes" and bugger all else

B@

So siding with the people who were fighting back against the IRA after denouncing and opposing the IRA yourself is hypocritical?

I hope the media will attack the DUP on their shameful past as they atacked corbyn for "supporting the IRA"
It's not just their past though, they are still gay hating anti abortion religious nutjobs! The queen should tell May to **** off if she tries to prop up a government with them.

Interview on the Beeb just now from a 'trendy student'. "I'm a UKIP supporter but I spoiled my paper because I don't agree with the policies of the main two parties".

Why do this? Why not vote for the party you support instead of spoil your paper? I really don't get it.

Edinburgh Central

Although Sturgeon would like to think that the Scottish Parliament is the one that runs the UK, the last time I checked that is a Scottish Parliament constituency and Ruth Davidson is an MSP and not an MP, the Torys in no way could have a leader who is not an MP, it would be untenable. Although it would make any negotiation with the DUP laughable as she's openly gay ;)
