PPI Claiming

how did you do it? through revolver?
i've lived in so many address and had so many bank accounts, cards and loans. i'm not sure sure how many dates i could actually narrow down. I don't think I had any, but seems others also didn't think they had it either.

perhaps it would be better to let a comapny handle it even if its just to see if anything is owed before doing it myself? any companies let you fill in such info on line and not constantly hassel you by phone.

this basically - i'm crap with dates, former addresses, previous cards etc that i may have held. I had a quick look at resolver but it seems that it wants you to select a specific company that you may have a ppi issue with and take it from there. Are there any other services that (for example) you just give your name, address (and any previous addresses you may remember) and they do the leg work?

I don't mean to sound lazy, it's just that i genuinely don't have records or recollections from ten years ago or more, regarding these things..

Yes Resolver.
I got the loan to pay off my collage fees - that was actually about 13-14 years ago now that i check the dates.
Changed addresses 6 times since then(Student life!). I too had a set of forms sent to me by a claims company for months now after speaking to them but they take about 30% and i never got to fill out all the details.
After seeing this thread i thought i might try doing it my self. Took a better part of 1 hour or so.

And i was told that i would have been rejected the loan if I didnt get the PPI as i was a student. Later I found this not to be true and went to the bank and was told by the bank manager that i would have no chance getting it back as i have "singed the paper work" - this was after i paid off all the loan (about 7 years ago).

And funnily enough I've just had a letter drop from bank acknowledging the PPI submission, via Resolver, and stating a response within 8 weeks.
Just had the bank phone and confirm some additional details around my application. Questions relating to my postal application and whether or not I signed a line specific to PPI, whether or not I spoke to anyone regarding the application, whether or not I had savings and disclosure of any medical conditions.

Application will be reviewed and I should get a response within the week.

So on the call, the questions were geared to whether I knowingly consented to PPI.

"On the application did you explicitly sign for PPI?"
"Were you contacted as part of the application process to discuss PPI?"

Bloody hell. I didn't realise it could go back that far.

I think a couple of times I've had PPI but didn't think much of it because it made sense in case of redundancy. Not sure if that constitutes mis-selling in all honesty. Aren't you potentially in hot water if you aren't sure about whether you willingly bought it or not?

I know I had a loan with Alliance & Leicester back in the late 90's and think insurance was a condition of the loan. They aren't around anymore though?

I doubt it as anyone could feign ignorance of knowingly agreeing to take up PPI. Hence the shedload of chancers out there banging out claims left and right.

In my instance, the amount I was charged for the duration of the claim was less than 200 quid, for which I could not be bothered to spend time completing the form. It was only this thread and the Resolver process that I thought I'd give it a punt. That and I can honestly answer no to the above questions.

I have no paperwork for the A&L loan so not sure how I go about making sure there was PPI or not. Any hints? I know what address I was at back then.

Take a look at the forms on the Resolver site; I'm not sure how vague is vague when it comes to submitting the form. Obviously the more detail you have the better chance of being able to investigate the claim.

Personally I'd only bother if you knew the loan included PPI. A degree of honesty provides good karma! :)

I've filled out the Resolver form for a couple of loans I took almost 10 years ago, I'm not sure if there was PPI included in the premiums but I certainly wouldn't have knowingly taken it unless it was compulsory as I had permanent health insurance with my employer and I'm always skeptical of those types of insurance. Does anyone know if PPI was included in Egg and Virgin Money credit card premiums?

I had another £308 in from MBNA yesterday. I'm now only waiting on Peugeot - no idea if I paid anything with them, if I did then I knew nothing about it.

It is criminal the percentage the PPI claim companies take for essentially resubmitting the information you need to fill out and give them anyway. You made the right choice pursuing the claim yourself.

+1

I got £3,500 for making one phone call to the bank. The time span from phone call to cheque in hand was roughly 4 weeks.

My wife did her claim through a third party company, and it took 3 times as long with a 30% deduction.

I'm going through a PPI company. If I don't, it simply won't get done so any money is better than no money.

I've had that many loans and credit cards over the past 20 years (all paperwork long gone) I've no idea about most of them.

it seems the way to go. they do all the hard work. Then when it comes to the claim, you go nah and do it yourself and they get paid nothing. Or at least that's what they himself advertise, I assume there's enough people at that point who go what the hell I cant be bothered.

Think I should probably phone one and see, if I did pay any, then it was missold. I'm assuming I can just give them about 8 addresses and about 10banks/cards/loans and they'll make a request to each provider.

Neither did I, the bank did all the digging. The only information I gave them was my name, my DOB and every address I had lived at since I was 16.

seriously? I've only ever had one bank account which is natwest

Seriously. It was Clydesdale Bank whom I've been with since I left school. The banks have dedicated departments to deal with this now. It's easier and cheaper for them to cut to the chase and pay out as opposed to endless forms. Every time you submit a form, they need to pay someone to check it and then write back to you etc.. The sheer volume of claims means a lot of banks have literally became the PPI sleuth for you.

I would say that first port of call should be an approach from you directly, and if they resist then call in the hounds.

Right, phoned up natwest and your right. They do all the checks against any loans or cards you've ever had.

Unfortunately I have never had PPI so no windfall for me lol
